WBG Chemistry Job Opening Msc Chemistry Jobs at World Bank. The ENB GP’s unit in South Asia is looking to further enhance its capacity of environmental specialists in the New Delhi Office to support the ongoing work and activities of the India Air Quality Management program, with work across multiple cities and states and with different sector teams.

Education

Master’s degree or higher in chemistry, atmospheric sciences, climate change or a relevant specialty in engineering (environmental, civil, or chemical).

Experience:

i.5+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the technical area of air quality management

ii.Previous experience in research, designing, planning, and management of air quality projects.

Skills:

i.High-level of scientific and technical knowledge of principles, practices and policies in air quality management planning.

ii.Project management (planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) and writing of reports/ briefs, particularly under tight schedule and timelines.

iii.Ability to work with multiple agencies (government agencies, academia and research think tanks) and

convey scientific concepts to non-scientists

iv.Ability to work at the cutting-edge of air quality science and remain up-to-date with scientific literature

v.Knowledge and application of air quality modelling systems is an added advantage

vi. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi required

vii. Proficiency in using MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary.

viii.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team with diverse set of colleagues.

Other Requirements:

i.Willingness to learning new skills (on-the-job training will be provided to familiarize the successful candidate)

ii.Ability to work across different time zones, (India, Singapore, USA) and frequent travel within India.

The extended term consultant will be a core member of an interdisciplinary task team which is based out of Washington DC and New Delhi. The successful candidate will report to Karin Shepardson, Lead Environment Specialist, and Task Team Leader, Air Quality Management Program, based in Singapore.

Duties and Accountabilities:

ENR GP is seeking to employ an Extended Term Consultant who would help support the India Air Quality Management Program of work. The ETC will be based at the World Bank Country Office in Delhi, India. The Specialist would work in the following areas:
Support the Bank task team based in New Delhi, Washington DC, and Singapore to implement technical assistance activities with the Government of India. This includes:

1. Support day-to-day, just in time work as defined by the needs of the Bank Program (organizing meetings, consultations; prepare meeting agendas and minutes; mission plans, briefing notes, and updates).

2. Provide technical inputs, and review studies relating to air quality planning (such as source apportionment studies, emission inventories, health impact studies, sectoral studies).

3.Support development and delivery of training events related to air quality management and maintain proficiency in the subject matter materials, considering experiences from across the world.

4. Undertake missions/ travel to states to support clients in implementing their air quality action plans and provide technical support as defined by the Program. Support technical experts hired to deliver advisory support tailored to India. Facilitate the organization of meetings for Bank staff and experts with the state counterparts for missions and technical visits.

5. Help develop a baseline assessment and track progress for a specific city/state on air quality management, addressing key stakeholders and citizen engagement, institutional and policy mechanisms for AQM planning and implementation, sectoral programs and strategies.

6. Prepare progress reports, briefings, participate in team coordination meetings and report back from meetings with the client agencies.

7. Help organize Bank-supported air quality management workshops and knowledge sharing events in the states and at the national level

8. Maintain and develop strong client relationships in order to maintain a robust dialogue for the Bank support work.

9.Participate in and/or prepare materials for external workshops on AQM, representing the Bank’s work as required.

10.Stay current with all AQM related ongoing and planning activities in the state(s) with government and other partners externally funded projects. This would require frequent check-ins with all stakeholders.

11.Support planning of public and citizen engagement strategies and public information platforms.

12. Help plan and undertake analytic work that supports the advancement of air quality management planning in India.
