Job Title: Senior Process Data Engineer

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Oil and Gas industry is desirable with considerable experience as a Process Engineer with a focus on Flare and Pressure Relief System

Process Engineering or process safety engineering experience with specialization in Flare and Pressure Relief systems is preferred.

  • Relevant Process Safety and/or Process Engineering experience in the Petroleum & Chemicals Industry
  • Familiarity with process simulation software – Unisim, Hysys, Flarenet
  • Familiarity with both in-house (e.g. HEMP, FRED, etc.) and Industrial (e.g. PHAPro, HAZOP, etc.) risk management tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including API 520/521, API 537, API 754, DEPs, ANSI B31.3, CSA Z662, ASME Pressure Vessel Code, EUB60, CEPA and relevant ISO Standards

Job Responsibilities:

  • Update site documentation regarding Relief Devices and Flares.
  • Update site Safeguarding Manuals and Drawings as necessary.
  • Provide expertise in the design and revalidations of flare systems.
  • Responsible for the design of relief system, flare header design, and carry out relief valve sizing calculations.
  • Performing contingency analysis and flare header analysis.
  • Revalidation and verification of overpressure relief scenarios and assurance on adequate protection i.e., verification of PRV, PVV capacities.
  • Manage relief system action items and drive relief system deficiency management strategies
  • Site flare model focal and custodian site pressure relief standards
    Occasionally review and participate in MOCs for overpressure protection – Evaluate changes to existing relief systems.
  • Determine and evaluate mitigations to relief system deficiencies
  • Apply knowledge and awareness of the Learning from Incidents (LFI) process and responsibilities, in reporting, investigation or incident follow-up
  • Support Unit PHAs as assigned
  • Interpret, review and/or critique critical diagrams such as cause and effect, mechanical flow, piping and instrumentation (P&ID), and mass balance.

  • Other duties as assigned

Summary:

Flare and Pressure Relief Systems Engineer is accountable for providing engineered safety support to identify potential hazards and prevent loss of process containment. This involves the safeguarding of operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, process optimization, and implementation of changes to ensure the integrity and improve reliability.
