Senior Officer/ Executive – QA

Position: Sr. Officer/ Executive – QA

Summary:

The Senior Officer/ Executive QA is responsible for managing day-to-day operations at the Mandideep plant. The role includes monitoring QA parameters, overseeing shift activities, facing audits, maintaining Quality Management Systems documentation, monitoring and verifying process parameters and product specifications, accepting raw and packaging materials, releasing finished goods, implementing food safety, training food handlers on GMP, and reporting monthly KPIs for Mandideep operations.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Process Quality Control

  • Periodic inspection and analysis of beverages, fruit drinks, juices, soy milk, ketchups, and instant tea and coffee premixes.
  • Analyze online blend samples and finished products for physicochemical and sensory parameters.
  • Conduct periodic checks of finished goods during packing operations.
  • Inspect finished goods in the warehouse, including first pass and second pass quality checks and analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze water treatment plant (coagulation water/RO water).
  • Verify records related to quality and food safety.
  • Monitor GMP compliance.
  • Analyze customer complaints and perform root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Report non-conformances observed and resolve them with RCA and CAPA.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs in blending and packing operations.
  • Understand production issues and mitigate critical issues as they arise; guide the team to resolve operational issues and oversee the SAP release and data reporting for Hershey India production.

Routine Audits

  • Conduct weekly and monthly audits like PHC, GMP, Super Six, etc.
  • Oversee the execution of all internal audits for the Mandideep plant, including global and internal systems audits.
  • Track and review all system-related audit documentation such as FFSC, QMS new standards, any SOPs, process change IQ/PQ/OQ, and risks and hazards related to quality.

Training and Development

  • Identify training needs based on product and quality requirements; provide direction for team capability building.
  • Oversee internal training sessions according to agreed timelines.
  • Plan and conduct training sessions to explain quality parameters and guidelines regularly; measure training effectiveness.

Process Improvements

  • Track market trends to understand best practices in quality assurance and quality testing.
  • Periodically review own areas of operations to find opportunities to improve and reduce consumer complaints.
  • Present opportunities and benefits of new methods to supervisors.
  • Assign approved initiatives to the team and track progress; participate in pilots and communicate initiatives to other departments; guide the team as required.

Personal Capability Development

  • Responsible for own training and development plan.
  • Strive for continuous growth under the supervision of the QRC Head.

Key KPIs:

  • Compliance with FSSAI & FSSC regulations.
  • Audit non-compliance rate.
  • Global quality food safety audit results.
  • PHC and Super Six audit compliance.
  • Reduction in customer complaints.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Successfully Perform Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of technology fundamentals.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and quality.
  • Familiarity with FMCG business and financial understanding.
  • Experience in project quality assurance, process quality, supplier technical assurance, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with co-manufacturing handling preferred.

Skills:

  • Practical knowledge of handling and calibrating analytical instruments.
  • Experience in chemical analysis of food beverages.
  • Familiarity with quality management standards for large-scale manufacturing and packing environments.
  • Knowledge of FSSAI and other relevant industry regulations.
  • Experience using statistical tools and their applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, good administrative abilities, and proficient computer skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of quality management best practices.
  • Collaborative work style across different functions within the organization.
  • Experience with global clients and strong leadership skills for managing internal teams.
  • Demonstrated change management and conflict resolution abilities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Food Technology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience in quality/manufacturing functions in a reputable food and beverage industry.
