Job Title: Researcher/Principle researcher: Iron Making Res Group(Chem-1)

Location: Jamshedpur

Eligbility Criteria:

M.Tech./M.S./M.E./Ph.D.
Branch:Chemical, Petroleum, Petrochemical, Energy, Environment, Metallurgy, Mechanical

Experience:

1.Experience of 3 – 11 years in hydrogen and gas related processes.

2.Good experience with gas handling and safety.

3.Experience with hydrogen generation processes.

4.Experience with catalytic and non-catalytic processes for gas production.

5.Experience with gas analysis techniques like mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography,etc.

6.Process and operating knowledge of industrial level gas separation and purification processes like adsorption,absorption, membrane separation, cryogenic distillation, etc.

Skills

  • Grow lab scale technologies from lab sale to pilot and industrial levels
  • Develop and regularize unique solutions to existing challenges in blast furnace ironmaking.
  • Analyze and solve problems related to ironmaking using a thorough research approach focused on experiments/ mathematical models.
  • Identify work done and shortcomings in existing approaches, generate new ideas, perform experiments/ develop new models.

Primary skill:

Hydrogen generation process knowledge and design, gas separation techniques,physical experiment modelling, gas

storage and handling, heat and mass balance.
Secondary skill:Blast furnace (or alternate ironmaking) process knowledge.

Role description

As a part of Iron Making Research group, you are expected to:

1)Give research outputs for economical solutions for large scale utilization of hydrogen or hydrogen bearing gases in iron making processes to reduce fossil fuel usage and consequent CO2 emissions.

2)Perform lab-scale experiments and analysis of different ways of hydrogen generation and extraction of hydrogen and other useful constituents from a mixture of gases.

3)Collaborate with internal and external agencies to meet hydrogen input demands for ironmaking processes.

4)Empower decision making in terms of blast furnace operating regime using different hydrogen bearing injectants.

5)Develop laboratories and pilot scale experimental facilities conforming to industrial safety standards.
