Objective
As a Raw Material Technology (RMT) Scientist in the Technology team, you will develop and maintain cost-effective, high-quality raw materials for coatings. This involves efficient qualification processes, aligning with customer specifications, supporting global and plant teams, and ensuring continuous quality improvement.
Core Responsibilities
Raw Material Evaluation:
- Collaborate with Sourcing, RMT Team Manager, and GBT Team Manager to identify raw materials requiring alternatives.
- Develop and implement qualification protocols for raw material evaluation.
- Prepare panels and conduct testing according to product specifications, documenting results in a comprehensive qualification report.
Supplier Coordination:
- Follow global supplier communication protocols and secure approvals before supplier meetings.
- Coordinate with suppliers to obtain necessary documentation, including COA, TDS, MSDS, and regulatory information.
- Guide suppliers in improving raw material performance for SD projects to meet Axalta specifications.
Project Management:
- Update project statuses regularly and participate in team meetings, maintaining minutes of meetings.
- Communicate technical progress to the Global Business Team (GBT) and ensure alignment across departments.
Process Improvement:
- Ensure RM-specific hazards and safety regulations are reviewed and compliant.
- Maintain and update RM test specifications and methods, introducing new ones as required to enhance efficiency.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Complete all project documentation for internal or external quality audits.
- Follow RM Management of Change (MOC) procedures, ensuring communication with planning, sourcing, and QC teams.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
- Qualifications: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry or Paint Technology, or a Diploma/Degree in Paint Technology.
- Experience: 2–3 years in raw material evaluation or coating development.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP S4 HANA.
- Strong understanding of paint technology and raw material testing.
- Knowledge of safety practices related to raw materials.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Hindi and English.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Ability to present technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
