The Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites applications from outstanding and enthusiastic researchers for post doctoral position under the mentorship of Dr. Hem C. Kandpal (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry)
Project Title:Â ‘Advanced wet-chemical synthesis and applications of Heusler compounds for energy generation and data storage’.
The prospective candidate is expected to have a strong background in one or more areas within MaÂterials science and Experimental Solid State Physics. Candidate should be passionate about working on cutting edge research leading to high impact products and services. Other research activities may include participating in research discussion with overseas universities and research centers. Apart from reÂsearch, the candidate may be entrusted with other academic responsibilities as deemed fit by the department.
Eligibility:
The prospective candidate should have PhD degree in Physics/Solid State Physics· from a premium institute with a consistently good academic record. He/she must have one or two years of post-Ph.D. experience/specialization in Materials Synthesis in the area preferably in Intermetallics. In addition, the candidate should have working experience in wet chemical synthesis under an inert atmosphere, vacuum systems such as an arc-melting furnace, hydrogen furnace, and a solid understanding of the instrumentations facilities that are used for the synthesis and characterization of intermetallic compounds.
Duration and Fellowship amount:
The duration of the fellowship will be of TWO years extendable for one more year, if necessary. The candidate is expected to join the Department as soon as offer letter has been released. The fellow will receive a consolidated fellowship as mentioned in addition to the contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- per annum. First year: Rs. 55,000/- per month.
Second year: Rs. 60,000/- per month.
