What You Will Do
The position is responsible for conducting toxicology risk assessment of ingredients, finished products, impurities, and degradants, as well as topical skin safety assessments for consumer products. The role involves data search, interpretation, and study monitoring at CROs. The candidate will collaborate with third-party contractors, review activities, and ensure regulatory compliance. The position does not involve laboratory work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct literature search & safety data collection (preclinical and clinical) for toxicology and clinical safety (skin tolerance) support.
- Perform literature reviews for hazard assessments of ingredients used in consumer products and prepare toxicology profiles.
- Assess and approve fragrances and flavors used in consumer products.
- Conduct toxicology risk assessments for raw materials and formulations, including Margin of Safety calculations and product approvals.
- Evaluate skin tolerance of cosmetic ingredients and products from preclinical and clinical perspectives.
- Review and interpret clinical skin safety studies (e.g., patch tests, phototoxicity, irritation, and sensitization studies).
- Coordinate clinical study material release and documentation.
- Perform safety assessments for impurities, degradants, and products as per regulatory requirements.
- Qualify packaging materials for various Consumer Healthcare Products, including package safety assessments.
- Review products at different stages of the development cycle.
- Maintain documents via the product safety & compliance SharePoint site.
Qualifications
What We Are Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree/Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a relevant science discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in consumer product risk assessment, toxicology, or clinical safety (skin tolerance).
- Experience in dermal clinical study practices and guidelines.
- Knowledge of packaging risk assessment.
- Familiarity with in silico toxicity predictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for product safety submissions.
- Experience in medical writing.
