Cheminformatician Job They are seeking a skilled and experienced software developer to integrate cheminformatics software into our website to enable chemical structure search functionality. The primary goal of this project is to allow users to draw or input chemical structures and perform efficient searches in our chemical compound database.
Job Title: Cheminformatician
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Responsibilities:
- Install and configure the selected cheminformatics software (ChemAxon JChem or RDKit) on our server or hosting environment.
- Import our chemical compound database into the cheminformatics software and ensure data integrity.
- Implement structure indexing and optimization for enhanced search performance, if applicable.
- Design and develop a user-friendly interface on our website that allows users to draw or input chemical structures for searching.
- Integrate the cheminformatics software’s API or web services into our website’s backend to enable communication between the user interface and the cheminformatics backend.
- Implement search logic to convert user-provided structures into the required format and execute substructure, similarity, and/or exact searches as needed.
- Display search results in a clear and intuitive manner on the website, providing relevant information about the matching compounds.
- Optimize the integration for performance and scalability, ensuring smooth functioning even with a large chemical compound database.
- Collaborate with our team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to the chemical structure search functionality.
- Provide documentation and guidelines for future maintenance and updates of the integrated system.
Key Qualifications:
- Strong background in cheminformatics and familiarity with chemical structure handling and search algorithms.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating cheminformatics software into web applications or websites for chemical structure search.
- Proficiency in using and configuring cheminformatics tools such as ChemAxon JChem or RDKit (depending on the chosen software).
- Expertise in web development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and backend languages (e.g., Python, PHP) for integrating APIs and web services.
- Experience with database management and data import for chemical compound databases.
- Ability to design a user-friendly and intuitive interface for structure input and search result display.
- Familiarity with indexing and performance optimization techniques for efficient structure search operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate representation of chemical structures and search results.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with our team and provide clear documentation of the integration process.
