ICAS Admissions to Integrated Bachelors/Masters/PhD Program

Admission to the Integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s Program in Science – 2023

IACS conducts a de novo five-year Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Program in Science for highly motivated students who have passed (10+2) level examination in science stream. The objective of this program is to provide high-quality education, research, and training in science. This special program integrates undergraduate teaching with
modern research in all major Schools of the Institute. The first three semesters of the program will comprise foundational courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science and Biological Sciences. From the fourth semester onwards, the students will choose one discipline (from Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science, Mathematics and
Computer Science) as major, subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria and availability of seats in the respective Schools.

From the seventh semester the students will be directly exposed to research.
Applications are invited from bright and motivated Indian nationals for admission to the Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Program in Science-2023 likely to begin from August 7, 2023. The applicants who are due to complete their 10+2 level Board Examinations are eligible to appear in a UG Pre-Interview Screening Test (UPST). UPST-2023 will
be conducted in a fully computer-based test mode

, tentatively on May 14th, 2023 in various cities across India.

For the UPST, candidates need to attempt 15 questions (3 marks each) from the three compulsory subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and another 15 questions (3 marks each) from either Biology or Computer Science.

(a) A cut-off mark will be set based on the aggregate-score of the three compulsory subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) in the written test for shortlisting for interview. However, candidates will have to secure a minimum mark in each of the four attempted subjects to become eligible for interview.

(b) Final merit list will be prepared giving appropriate weightage to the scores of both the written test (aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/Computer Sciences) and interview. The shortlisted candidates will be called for interview, out of which a maximum of sixty (60) candidates will be selected for the Program as will be declared in the IACS website. The selection will be based on the performance in UPST
followed by interview, and subject to obtaining 60% marks (reservation criteria will be applied as per rules) in the qualifying board (10+2) examination. IACS reserves the right to fix the subjectwise minimum eligibility marks and aggregate cut-off marks in the UPST and also the weightage of the interview and the written test. Admitted students
entering into the fourth year may be eligible to receive monthly stipend, following the institute norms. Admission under the reserved categories, including EWS will be as per rule.

Admission to the Master’s/Integrated Master’s-Ph.D. Program in Science – 2023

Applications are invited from highly motivated Indian nationals for admission to the Master’s/Integrated Master’s-Ph.D. Program in the Schools of Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Materials Sciences, Mathematical & Computational Sciences, Applied & Interdisciplinary Sciences for the session likely to begin from August 7, 2023.

Candidates who have completed or are due to complete their Bachelor’s level University Examinations are eligible to apply but their final selection will be subject to securing 60% marks (reservation criteria will apply as per rules) in the qualifying examination.

Candidates having Engineering background and opting for School of Mathematical & Computational Sciences should have adequate training in Mathematics and Computer Science. Eligible applicants will be required to appear for a Master’s Pre-Interview Screening Test (MPST). MPST-2023 will be conducted in a fully computer-based test mode on tentatively May 07, 2023 in various cities across India on multiple choice questions depending upon the school choice. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the written test will be called for interview, out of which a maximum of twenty (20) candidates will be selected for admission in each of the schools. Actual intake in a particular school will depend on the performance of the candidates in MPST and interview. Final merit list will be prepared giving appropriate weightage to both the written test score as well as the score in the interview. IACS reserves the right to fix the cut-off marks in the MPST for interview and also the relative weightage of the interview and the written test.

Admitted students may be eligible to receive a stipend of Rs. 12,000/- p.m. (fixed) for the first two years, provided that they fulfill the prescribed CGPA and other criteria in the final examination of their first semester. On successful completion of the Master’s course, the students satisfying the criteria to be prescribed by the Institute will be considered for
admission to the Ph.D. program as Integrated Master’s-Ph.D. students, to whom Junior Research Fellowship will be awarded as per the prevailing norms, provided they meet the criteria of national eligibility and other requirements as decided by IACS. Admission under the reserved categories, including EWS will be as per rule. Admission to Ph.D. Program in Autumn Semester of 2023
