Job Title: Technologist CR & Coated Products

Eligbility Criteria:

MQ: B.E. / B.Tech, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Chemical

Skills

•Work experience in Continuous Galvanising / Metal coating / Colour coating line for at least six years in Technology group, Operation, QA, R&D.

•Well conversant with Coated products, Colour coatings.

Job Description:

To lead the new Product development in Coated and Colour Coated products category as per ABP and Long-Term Plan and focus study on elimination of the chronic customer complaints and internal rejections. Continuous identification of the technological gaps in products and processing lines to improve the performance.
This is key position, which is interfacing with Upstream, Operations, R&D, PAG, M&S and End Customer, to carry out day to day activities

.

To lead the new Product development in coated and colour coated product category as per ABP and Long-Term Plan.

•Design of product and process alternates

•Designing of steel chemistry and optimum annealing cycles to achieve desired microstructure and mechanical properties.

•Assessment of risk involved in NPD and paint development trials

•Estimation of cost of product development.

•Creation of TDCs

Elimination of chronic issues in products and processes to reduce customer complaints and Internal rejections

•Process and Product Improvement, Problem solving

•Process and product capability assessment, suggesting improvement, Defined process standards, Chronic issue resolution

•Review of FMEA, Control plan, SOPs

Benchmarking (product & process) to assist operation team to help improve product quality and reduce costs of the operation by maintaining awareness in new process technologies in processing lines

•Technical assistance to operation, FP planning & customers

•Explore Innovative systems to reduce process variability and improve automations
Technology scan, technology evaluation/proposal for new investments

•Proposals for new processing technologies, state-of-the-art equipment technologies, investment avenues

•Developing domain expertise

Knowledge Creation – Literature survey and circulation of Technical notes.

  1. What is your experience working with Continuous Galvanising/Metal Coating/Colour Coating lines? How have you used this experience to improve product performance?

Answer: I have worked with Continuous Galvanising/Metal Coating/Colour Coating lines for six years, during which I have gained extensive knowledge of coated products and colour coatings. I have leveraged my experience to identify and address technological gaps in products and processing lines, thereby improving performance. For instance, I have worked on developing alternate product and process designs, optimizing steel chemistry and annealing cycles, and assessing risk involved in NPD and paint development trials.

2. How do you ensure customer orientation while leading new product development projects?

Answer: As a technologist, my goal is to ensure that the products we develop meet the needs and expectations of our customers. To achieve this, I work closely with cross-functional teams, including Upstream, Operations, R&D, PAG, M&S, and End Customer, to identify customer needs and translate them into product specifications. I also incorporate customer feedback into the development process to ensure that the final product meets their requirements.

3. How do you stay up-to-date with new process technologies and incorporate them into your work?

Answer: To stay current with new process technologies, I regularly benchmark product and process improvements to identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency. I also explore innovative systems to reduce process variability and improve automation. Additionally, I perform technology scans and evaluations to propose new processing technologies, state-of-the-art equipment technologies, and investment avenues.

4. How do you identify chronic issues in products and processes, and how do you go about resolving them?

Answer: I use a process-driven approach and statistical tools to assess process and product capability, identify gaps and chronic issues, and suggest improvements. I review FMEA, control plans, and SOPs to identify opportunities for improvement. I also work closely with cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analyses and define process standards. Additionally, I leverage my domain expertise to provide technical assistance to operations, FP planning, and customers.

5. How do you estimate the cost of product development and ensure that it aligns with the company’s long-term plan and ABP?

Answer: I estimate the cost of product development by assessing the resources required, including personnel, equipment, materials, and facilities. I also evaluate the feasibility of the project and the potential return on investment. To ensure that the project aligns with the company’s long-term plan and ABP, I work closely with cross-functional teams to define project goals and milestones and monitor progress regularly. I also ensure that the project is aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and has the potential to generate value for our customers and stakeholders
