Job Description

Responsibilities

Main Purpose

  • Ensuring best quality of product and minimum customer complaints through stringent on-line quality control checks and finished product inspection
  • Implementing appropriate quality control systems/standards for processes, physical systems, and the environment
  • Troubleshooting during online production to minimize wastage and ensure quality
  • Responsible for maintaining GMP, GHK GLP, and internal/external audits (HACCP, AIB, Personal Hygiene, Process audit)
  • Conducting root cause and failure analysis for quality defects and implementing corrective actions

Accountabilities

Process Area Quality Checks

  • Conduct online quality checks to ensure adherence to FLI standards during production
    • Conduct visual inspections to confirm key operating parameters are within specified ranges for machines such as Peelers, Fryers, and Slicers
    • Conduct 4-hourly checks on fryer oil for FFA, OV, foreign materials, taste, and odor
    • Analyze product weak links according to stipulated frequency
    • Hold quality meetings with S/I, Pkg leader & operatives to discuss online quality defects and decide corrective measures
    • Conduct PAE analysis hourly on all lines to ensure quality standards
    • Promptly communicate areas of concern and corrective actions to shift in-charge and production manager
    • Inform Quality Manager if test results indicate a crisis

Packaging Area Quality Checks

  • Ensure Quality Checkers perform packaging analysis per protocol
    • Conduct random film quality checks if complaints arise from production
    • Promptly communicate concerns and corrective actions to operator, shift in-charge, and production manager
    • Consult the Quality Manager in case of critical issues
    • Implement corrective actions and conduct product weak-link analysis every 4 hours
    • Drive product wall evaluation to assess product quality
    • Partner with R&D for packaging development

Machine Monitoring in Process and Packaging Areas

  • Calibrate machines like FL-710 for moisture and oil content
  • Ensure slicer blades are changed as per frequency
  • Ensure peeler rollers/KKR parts are changed periodically
  • Conduct process capability studies for the seasoning system and implement corrective actions

Reporting

  • Ensure accurate data entry of leakage and weight in SAP for each shift
  • Circulate shift quality reports with key product and packaging quality parameters
  • Ensure operators maintain PAE records in the assigned format hourly
  • Submit Weekly & Monthly Quality Reports on key product & packaging quality parameters

Housekeeping Audits

  • Inspect process and packaging areas to ensure standard working conditions
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment without spillage/unhygienic conditions
  • Ensure all previous week’s hold material is cleared and non-compliances are rectified

Handling Hold Material

  • Ensure hold material is cleared within 48 hours of hold-up
  • Award Red, White, and Yellow Non Compliance Disposition (NCD) Tags after analysis
  • Report tag status to production, citing hold-up reasons

Compliance

  • Increase awareness about statutory laws and maintain accurate statutory records
  • Comply with I2C key controls

Customer Complaint Resolution

  • Assist Quality Manager in analyzing root causes of complaints and developing action plans
  • Implement actions to prevent recurrence of complaints

Participation in TPM Activities

  • Lead or participate in TPM for various projects

Culture and Continuous Improvement

  • Promote quality standards and the concept of “cost of non-quality”
  • Provide regular feedback to the Quality Manager on cultural aspects
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement action plans

Training and Documentation

  • Train operatives on TPOD, seasoning, oil quality, meal quality, packaging quality
  • Lead LTI initiatives for timely completion of trials and packaging improvements

Qualifications

Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • MSC. Chemistry, Food Tech Degree, Post Graduate in Food tech, Post Graduate in dairy technology
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Food/Beverage/FMCG industry
  • Exposure to food safety systems and ISO systems
  • Preferably Knowledge of HACCP/AIB and TPM.
