Brief Job Overview
If you want to help pharmaceutical
researchers improve the quality of drugs, and you have experience developing analytical methods, then the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) wants to talk with you!We have an immediate opening for a Scientist II in our Analytical Research & Development Laboratory. This is a non-supervisory position to support the development of reference materials. The successful applicant in this role will work on projects, including complete analysis for ATR testing using various analytical tests, and will perform a variety of non-routine and routine analytical tests, maintaining safety & GLP environment in the lab, including evaluation of reference standards, development/validation (as per requirement) of official methods, stability studies, and research projects in analytical chemistry.

The Scientist-II Has The Following Responsibilities
- [60%] Support reaction monitoring, scale-up, and final analysis of samples as per monograph/in-house procedures, including method development if required. Prepare development reports for Synthetic Support projects (USPNF and PAI). Execute projects per approved test protocols if assigned.
- [15%] Responsible for the preparation of SOPs, protocols, reports, etc. Ensure project requirements by coordinating with the Purchase department. Responsible for the preparation of records and documents. Ensure that the calibration of equipment is performed as per schedule.
- [10%] Prepare, execute, and complete IQ/OQ/PQ of new instruments. Indent the required glassware, chemicals, and columns for ARD projects. Maintain GLP & implement safety procedures while working in the lab. Perform other project duties as assigned.
- [10%] Prepare and plan for ISO-9001 certification/recertification by participating actively, verifying protocols and related documents, and taking an active role in internal and external QA audits. Address audit issues in a timely manner. Take up any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor proactively. Participate in USP cross-functional team activities as appropriate.
- [5%] Practice Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging principles at USP India.
Who is USP Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:
- M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry / Organic Chemistry, with 3-6 years of experience in an analytical lab.
- Hands-on experience in working with chemical methods and handling instruments like HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Visible, wet chemistry, etc.
- Experience in analytical testing and development, with a focus on process analytical chemistry. Exposure to GMP/GLP environments and documentation procedures required.
- Comprehensive understanding of synthetic organic molecules and analytical chemistry.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills are required.
- Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to function in a team-oriented environment are necessary.
Additional Desired Preferences
- Knowledge of handling LCMS, GCMS, IC, and ICP-MS will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with general chapter information, ELN, Empower, and NuGenesis will be an added advantage.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Preferably familiar with electronic notebook documentation of experimental procedures.
- Skilled in evaluation and interpretation of data.
- Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot, solving technical problems effectively.
- Takes personal responsibility to ensure work is delivered on time and is of the highest quality.
