About the Job
Overall, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of instruments related to the Gas Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry facility. This includes developing analytical methods using DHA, Simdist, and advanced multi-dimensional gas chromatography instruments (GCxGC-TOF-MS, GCxGC-SCD/NCD). You will plan and schedule analytical activities and conduct analysis. Additionally, you will prepare and release analysis reports after sample analysis, review the data, deliver the analysis report as per TAT, and ensure the accuracy of test results obtained.
Work closely with the team to develop and validate the analytical method for characterizing crude oil, petroleum fractions, and petrochemical samples using gas chromatographic and mass spectrometry instruments and advanced software for petroleum product analysis. Prepare STPs, monthly reports highlighting turnaround time for samples from different R&D verticals, manufacturing sites, and businesses for gas chromatography & mass spectrometry analysis. Conduct literature surveys for new method development and discuss project milestones with project leads to provide timely analytical contributions.
Monitor and comply with LIMS & ISO 9001 requirements and follow GLP guidelines. Ensure instrument calibration is performed at defined intervals in the calibration frequency schedule
. Maintain availability of standard operating procedures (SOP) for each analytical instrument, perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot instruments, and coordinate with vendors for maintenance and breakdowns. Prepare an optional analysis plan during major instrument breakdowns.Procure standards, instrument spares, and consumables on a planned basis, and ensure the availability of utilities and supplies required for instruments in use and in the lab area. Prepare annual budget regarding Opex and Capex for gas chromatography & mass spectrometry. Plan and maintain resources to successfully execute lab experiments and analysis.
Align analytical activities according to defined leadership goals and annual operating plans. Attend analytical and R&D verticals projects meetings, interact with cross-functional team members across the verticals, manufacturing sites, and businesses. Accountable for safety, health, and environment while working in the laboratory. Contribute to AOP projects according to defined business requirements and plant troubleshooting. Publish research papers and technical reports.
