IIT BHU MSc Recruitment Applications are invited from the Indian Nationals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Senior Research Fellow (SRF), Project Scientists in Ministry of coal funded project with the following details:
Project Title: Utilization of low-grade coal for production of high-quality graphene and
carbon nano-particles for energy storage
Principal Investigator: Dr Yogesh Chandra Sharma, Professor (HAG) and Head, Department of Chemistry IIT (BHU) Varanasi, Varanasi 221005, UP, India.
Co-Principal Investigator: Dr. Kumud Malika Tripathi, Ramalingaswami Faculty, Department of Humanities and Sciences (Chemistry), Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Temp. Campus 2nd Floor, AU Engg. College Main Block, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh 530003.
Available posts: JRF 01; SRF 01; Project Scientist 01; Project Assistants 02.
Essential qualifications:
JRF: Candidate with good academic record with first divisions at all levels. Should have Masters Degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science with valid NET or GATE. A prior experience in the discipline of the project would be given suitable consideration.
Upper age limit: Not more than 28 year; relaxable by 5 year for SC/ST/PH and female candidates, 3 years in the case of OBC category.
SRF: Master degree in Chemistry/M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering/Material Engineering withvalid NET/GATE. Candidate should have
1-2 year of research experience and having good  knowledge and hands on experience in nanomaterials fabrication and various analytical tools such as SEM, UV spectroscopy, Fluorescence Spectroscopy, TGA, XRD etc. are given preference.Upper age limit: Not more than 30 year; relaxable by 5 year for SC/ST/PH and female candidates, 3 years in the case of OBC category.
Project Scientist: Ph.D. in an area directly relevant to renewable energy, nanomaterials synthesis, energy storage system from a reputed university / institute, and an excellent track record and publications in the relevant areas.
Note: The candidate, if selected should have been awarded Ph.D. before joining
Upper age limit: Not more than 35 year; relaxable by 5 year for SC/ST/PH and female candidates, 3 years in the case of OBC category.
Project Assistants: Graduation/Master in science with 02 years of experience in any higher educational institute or industry. Candidate having good knowledge and hands on experience in computers, record keeping, report preparation and managing lab.
Upper age limit: Not more than 32 year; relaxable by 5 year for SC/ST/PH and female candidates 3 years in the case of OBC category.
Candidate with relevant experience will be given due consideration in all cases.
Consolidated Fellowship/Salary: SRF: Rs. 35,000/- + HRA @ 16%. Project Scientist Rs.
47,000/- + HRA @ 16%; Project Assistant 10,000/-; 15000/-.
Duration: The post is purely temporary on contract basis with an initial appointment for a period of one year (likely to be extended yearly for a period of one more years based upon his/her performance and availability of funds).

Terms and conditions:
1. Selection committee of IIT BHU reserves the right to fix suitable criteria for short-listing of eligible candidates.
2. Candidates will be short listed for the interview based on merit and experience of the available candidates. Only short-listed candidates will be notified for interview and decision of selection committee will be final. The date and time of online interview will be informed by email to candidates and hence a valid email id should be provided by the candidate in the application.
3. Candidates should furnish original certificates at the time of joining.
4. The appointment can be terminated with one-month notice or one-month salary from either side without assigning any reason.
5. Since the post is purely temporary, the incumbent selected will have no claim for regular
appointment under IIT BHU or continuation of his/her service in any other project.
6. Benefits of provident fund, CCA, leave travel concession, medical benefits etc. are not
applicable.
7. Qualification should be from a recognized institute/university.
8. No TA/DA will be given to attend interview or joining post and candidates should have make his/her own arrangement for stay for interview or joining.
9. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
10. The candidate will work in the above-mentioned project and other work that may be assigned from PI/Co-PI from time to time.
