Important Interview Questions and Answers for the above job role:

  1. Can you describe your experience in the petrochemical/lubricant manufacturing industry and how it relates to this role?

Answer: I have 3-5 years of experience in the petrochemical/lubricant manufacturing industry, where I have worked in both QA and R&D departments of reputed medium-sized professionally managed batch process industries. During my tenure, I have gained hands-on experience in testing and analysis as per international standards (ASTM/DIN) and exposure to ISO system on Total quality management (TQM). These experiences have prepared me to take on the responsibilities of this role.

2. How do you stay current with the latest testing and analysis methods in the field of analytical chemistry?

Answer: I make it a point to attend industry conferences and seminars, read industry publications and articles, and network with other professionals in the field to stay up-to-date with the latest testing and analysis methods. In addition, I also take online courses and participate in training programs to learn about new instruments and techniques.

3. Can you give an example of a time when you had to investigate internal rejected batches and complaints in your previous role?

Answer: In my previous role, there was a batch of lubricant that failed the quality control test. I investigated the batch by conducting a root cause analysis, which involved analyzing the raw materials, manufacturing process, and testing procedures. I found that the issue was due to a faulty batch of a particular raw material. I then recommended to the management to implement a new supplier evaluation process and to discontinue using that particular raw material. By taking these actions, we were able to prevent similar issues in the future.

4. How would you ensure that laboratory instruments are properly maintained and calibrated?

Answer: I would ensure that laboratory instruments are properly maintained and calibrated by creating and following a maintenance schedule. This schedule would include regular cleaning, calibration, and routine checks of the instruments. In addition, I would ensure that the maintenance and calibration procedures are documented and followed by all laboratory personnel to ensure consistency and accuracy in our testing and analysis.

5. Can you describe your experience with ISO audits and Total Quality Management (TQM)?

Answer: In my previous role, I gained exposure to ISO audits and Total Quality Management (TQM) as we were required to maintain ISO certification. I was responsible for conducting internal audits and ensuring that all processes and procedures were in compliance with ISO standards. Additionally, I have experience with TQM principles, including continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, which I believe are crucial in maintaining high-quality standards in any manufacturing industry.
