Project Description: One of the most significant environmental issues we are currently dealing with, is the contamination of water bodies by organic contaminants found in industrial effluents and its remediation. Although. the problem is challenging by conventional treatment methods. Electrochemical oxidation techniques

, which are more recent and promising solutions for the treatment of wastewater, have shown outstanding results in removal of persistent organic contaminants, not only at the industrial level, but also in the decentralized water treatment of home and urban wastewaters. Although, to lower the associated upfront costs extensive research efforts on electrocatalytic, electrode materials, electrolytes and electrolyser as well as value addition through byproducts is needed.

This project goaled creating wealth from waste by a simultaneous degradation of textile-dye-industry effluents and production of green hydrogen (H2) through anodic oxidation of organic dyes and cathodic water electrolysis respectively.
