The research work involves the theoretical development of quantum mechanics-based methods and computations using existing programs. The goal is to compute the energy states and properties of atoms and molecules under the influence of an external magnetic field.
Project Title: Exploring Atomic and Molecular Electronic Excitation in Strong Magnetic Fields

Funding agency: DST/SERB
Principal Investigator: Dr. Sangita Sen, Dept. of Chemical Sciences, IISER KOLKATA.
Remuneration: As per DST/SERB rules (Rs. 31000/- plus HRA, if applicable)
Tenure: Till the end of the project duration (03-12-2023 with the possibility of extension upto 6 months), depending on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Eligibility Criteria: Highly motivated candidates interested in Physical Chemistry/Physics, with MSc in Chemistry or Physics (minimum 55% marks in MSc or equivalent). Candidates should be NET/GATE/DST-INSPIRE(or equivalent)
qualified.
Additional experience (desirable): Candidates should have strong knowledge and interest in
quantum chemistry, light-matter interaction, and Zeeman effects of various kinds. Ability to write scripts and codes in Python is essential and knowledge of programming in Fortran and/or C++ is desirable.Relaxation in Age and Academic qualification for SC/ST/OBC etc: As per govt. of India rules.
