Job Title: Associate Scientist / Sr. Associate Scientist

Professional Qualifications & Training:

Essential: M.Sc. (Analytical Chemistry) Desirable: Knowledge and/or experience in product development.

Job Purpose:

Drive growth initiatives by providing accurate, timely and precise analytical data & support to I&S/Product Development teams, and develop innovative solutions that result in best in class processes & methodologies.

Job Context & Challenges: This role is responsible for driving growth initiatives by partnering with I&S, product development and manufacturing teams and provide them with accurate, timely & precise analytical data/recommendations. Apply appropriate methodologies and data interpretation techniques to obtain reproducible and accurate results; assist in overcoming technical difficulties and promote continuous improvement. Contribute to method development or optimization to analyze new raw materials, experimental formulas, finished products, competitive products, and troubleshooting samples. Transfer analytical methods and new technologies to manufacturing sites, and provide analytical support and training for troubleshooting samples. Follow written analytical lab procedures from global and experimental methods and published standard or compendia sources. Maintain accurate, up to date and concise laboratory records. Maintain, calibrate, qualify and troubleshoot instrumentation.

Functional linkages: Internal: Department/Section Managers, Professional and Technical staff, Peers in other Functions (Primarily Supply chain, Packaging and Regulatory) External: Product Vendors / Suppliers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Stability, Raw material Qualification, Competition analysis Program and Support to Plants:
  • Own & drive stability studies and analyse finished products as per the cGMP requirements within stipulated timeline.
  • Analyse competition samples to support business
  • Provide accurate data using existing analytical instruments and wet chemistry techniques in a cGMP environment
  • Contribute to method development to support new regulatory requirement & registrations.
  • Drive innovation by continuously looking for opportunities to optimize existing processes/methodologies
  • Conduct method validation for new & existing bundles and support technology transfer for new & existing bundles to manufacturing sites.
  • Qualify new & existing vendors by analysing raw materials.
  • Develop new techniques for new raw materials and for troubleshooting samples.
  • Partner with External lab for conducting analysis

Drive EOHS, Quality & Sustainability Program

  • Lead, drive and participate in EOHS, Quality and Sustainability program initiatives.
  • Maintain Lab records as per 21CFR compliance.
  • Exposure to USFDA/ international regulatory audit / corporate audit

Lab Activities

  • Own and maintain Lab equipment’s/instruments as per 21CFR compliance.
  • Qualify, calibrate and schedule breakdown/ maintenance visits for equipment’s / instruments and support in troubleshooting.
  • Look for opportunities and contribute to simplification of routine lab activities thereby, contributing to FTG.
  • Maintain Glassware, accessories, column and chemical inventory.
  • Conduct daily verification of the equipment’s.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant industrial (Pharma / FMCG / Cosmetics) experience
  • Experience in Industrial or Pharmaceutical methods development, validation and qualification.
  • Specialized course in Instrumental / Analytical technique
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements (USP, ICH, CFR) for Laboratories operation and Quality Systems
  • Experience in preparation of supporting data related to new product launches/
  • Relaunches to ensure smooth technology transfer to plant.
  • Highly Result Oriented & Strong Analytical Ability
  • Exposure to product development process will be added advantage.
