Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), under the ageies of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Govt of India is engaged in the R&D activities with an objective to cater to the food requirements of the Armed Forces deployed at extreme environmental conditions. The main focus of the laboratory is in carrying out cutting edge technology in the field of Food Science and Technology which comprises research work in the areas of development of long shelf life ready to eat convenience foods, preservation of foods using various processing techniques, development and evaluation of food packaging materials, analysis and development of test kits for the detection of food spoilage and development of various functional, performance enhancing and stress reliving foods based on natural plant materials. The laboratory is well equipped with the state-of-the art analytical and other infrastruictural facilities.
Applications are invited from young, meritorious and motivated candidates of Indian nationals for the post of DRDO Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) to work in ongoing and
future research projects of DFRL, Mysore and the selected JRFs will be facilitated to register for PhD.Position Title: Junior Research Fellow
Qualifications:
Post 01:
- Essential : M.Sc., in Chemistry / M.Sc., in Analytical Chemistry / M.Sc., in Organic Chemistry with FIRST class and qualified with UGC-NET, CSIR-UGC-NET.
- Desirable : Preference will be given to the candidates who possess demonstrated skill acquired through dissertation in food chemistry.
Post 02:
- Essential : M.Sc., in Biotechnology with FIRST class and qualified with UGC-NET, CSIR-UGC-NET.
- Desirable : Preference will be given to the candidates who possess demonstrated skill acquired through dissertation in food chemistry.
No. of posts: Two (02)
As per Govt. of India’s guidelines UGC-NET, CSIR-UGC-NET qualification is essential and candidates without UGC-NET, CSIR-UGC-NET qualification need not apply. The candidates qualified exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for the award of JRF.
Tenure: The initial award of JRF shall be for a period of TWO years (as per the requirement it may be extended as per DRDO Rules).
Age: For Junior Research Fellows (JRF) 28 years as on closing date of advertisement (Relaxable for 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC as per Govt. of India Rules).
How to Apply:
- Application form can he downloaded from the “What New’ section of www.drdo.gov.in. Duly filled in application form can be sent to Director, DFRL, Siddarthanagar, Mysore — 570011 through Speed Post only.
- Applications sent through couriers will not be received and accepted. Candidates are required to pay application fee of Rs. 10/- Indian Postal Order (IPO) in the name of Director, DFRL, Mysore. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH categories and women candidates are exempted from the payment. Director, DFRL, Mysore shall not be responsible for any postal delay. The envelope containing the application may be super scribed as ‘RECRUITMENT OF Junior Research Fellows (JRFs)’.
Important Instructions:
- Candidates working in Govt./Public sector undertakings/autonomous bodies should bring ‘NOC’ at the time of written test/interview if called.
- Short-listed candidates shall be called for written test/intervieic. Information will be sent through e-mail/speed post to the candidates. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
- Candidates need to produce their original documents for proof of caste, age, educational qualifications and no objection certificate (where applicable), along with passport size photograph (2 Nos.)
- If failed to produce any one of the above mentioned documents, the candidate will not be permitted to appear for the wiltten test and interview.
- Candidates may bring project / dissertation / technical report in support of their desirable qualification.
- Antecedent of selected candidates will be verified.
- Admission shall not be claimed by any candidate as a matter of right. The admission shall be entirely at the discretion of the Selection committee of the laboratory which may refuse to admit any candidate without assigning any reason thereof.
- It may please be noted that offer of fellowship does not confer any right of absorption in DRDO.
