Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the ongoing research project funded by DST SERB, Government of India, under the supervision of Dr. Velavan Kathirvelu, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Department of Humanities and Sciences, National Institute of Technology Goa.
Title of Research Project – EPR Studies of Some Ni(II) Complexes in Crystalline Environment: Probing the Structure, Bonding and Electron Spin Relaxation Rates (Project No: SB/FT/CS-119/2014 dated 24/07/2015)
Discipline – CHEMISTRY
Name of the Position Available – Junior Research Fellow
Number of Positions Available – One
Essential Qualifications – M.Sc. in Chemistry with minimum 60% marks and a valid NET/GATE score
Salary – Rs. 25,000 per month + 20% HRA
Project Abstract –
The fundamental questions in molecular biology are, how the protein folds, how do the molecules assemble in multi-molecular units and how do species cross the membrane? Answer to these and similar questions require measurement of distances between sites in the protein. EPR provides a unique insight into distances between locations in biological systems and can be applied to any system that has two paramagnetic centers.
