Role Summary – Jr. Process Chemist
Follow established procedures and guidelines to operate the process units, load/unload storage tanks, and manufacture chemical products.
- Safely operate and work with industrial equipment using the proper PPE and safety procedures.
- Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions. Includes manual and DCS operation.
- Loading, unloading, and sampling material containers (tank cars/trucks, drums) in the plant whenever required.
- Track/record process information and production data.
- Production data entry in the ERP – SAP system.
- Report non-conformance/deviations to the shift in charge and participate in troubleshooting equipment, processes, etc., to determine the root cause.
- Provide suggestions for process improvement.
- Coordination with QAL and Maintenance functions.
- Maintaining equipment in good condition, cleanliness, and attending to minor maintenance jobs like leaks, oil top-ups, hose connections, etc.
- Clean and prepare equipment for maintenance as required. Issue work memos and release equipment safely for maintenance. Conclude the job with successful trials.
- Monitoring jobs mentioned in work permits issued in the unit.
- Responsible for good housekeeping in the plant and surroundings.
- Participate in the plant emergency response team (Rescue Squad) activities.
- Participate in safety audits and Hazop studies, as well as prepare JSA.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering with a good academic background and 1 to 5 years of experience in the chemical industry. (Preferably from a specialty chemical company).
- Understanding hazardous materials and safety procedures (MSDS, JSA’s, etc.).
- Good interpersonal communication skills (verbal/written).
- Ability to plan tasks, work independently, and display individual initiative.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to identify process improvements and act on them.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in the chemical industry. (Preferably from a specialty chemical company)
- Exposure to plant operations; working with hazardous chemicals, working on DCS,
