IISER Kolkata PhD Chemistry Research Job Opening – Applications Invited

Online applications are invited for the selection of a suitable candidate for a Research Associate (RA) position (One Year) at IISER Kolkata for a Grant-in-Aid project of Dr. Amitava Das, Professor (as PI) and Prof. Venkataraman Mahalingam (as Co-PI) of Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata. The project is funded by DRDO-Defence Material and Stores Research and Development Establishment, Kanpur (Government of India) under the CARS scheme (Ref. no. TR/0569/CARS-136, dated 05-08-2022).
Title of the project: “FRET-Based Optical Response and Sensing by Molecular Rotor Components in Soil and Water Samples”

- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry/Biology from any recognized university/institute. Candidates with good publications as a first author in reputed peer-reviewed journals shall be given preference. Applicants with good academic records and 75% overall marks or CGPA 7.5 (or above) in their M.Sc. examination shall be given preference. Candidates having experience in working with super Resolution fluorescence microscopy and cell culture may shall be given preference.
- Age limit: Must not be over 37 years as of 22nd May, 2024 which can be relaxed for certain reserved categories as per the prevailing rules of the Government of India.
- Remuneration: Rs. 47,000/- (Rupees forty-seven thousand only) per month (consolidated).
- Tenure: Project duration: One year (Non-extendable).

- Interview: Candidates are requested to appear in the online/offline interview through Google Meet on the first week June, 2024 organised by Prof. Das and Prof. Mahalingam of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, Mohanpur, West Bengal, Pin–741 246. The interview date/time will be shared with the shortlisted candidate in due course. A link will be shared for arranging the interview in hybrid mode.
- Terms and Conditions:
i. No TA / DA will be offered.
ii. The appointment of the candidate will be governed by the terms and conditions of the said project of the funding agency.
iii. The decision of the selection committee will be final.
iv. If the number of applicants is large, the selection committee may decide to restrict the number of candidates for the interview to a reasonable limit after considering qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
v. The selected candidate will have to join duty immediately upon receipt of the offer.
vi.
