Objectives of the Position:

  • Develop Technical service function to engage with Pharmaceutical formulators , initiate and develop NBD opportunities, Collate, interpret and disseminate research from various sources on latest technical development (trends, patterns, technology)
  • Providing Technical services to south India that include other need-based support within the ambit of technical team
  • Providing support in realizing the India and regional customers as platform representatives for technical product management promotion objectives in Orals, Solubilization, Topicals and Biologics platforms in generating customer preference for BASF products.
  • To establish effective territory plans in accordance with market strategy and promote BASF Pharma platforms and functionality features and benefits of BASF Ingredients to customer technical teams
  • Engage and work with technical services team and sales colleagues to develop, shape and implement Platform/Product strategies in order to grow and realize new business with customers.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

Customer support

  • Provide timely support to internal and external customers on Technical matter
  • Review current BASF Technical services & platforms from a customer perspective, identify differentiation potential vs competitors’ offerings, close potential gaps, and make proposals for improvements

Drive new business development

  • Lead new business development activities through execution, pipeline monitoring, customer visits, opportunity identification, and taking lead in offering solutions to product development challenges in coordination support with Application Experts
  • Support coordination of NBD project including sampling activities, provide customer feedback (collected by Sales Team) to Application Experts
  • To have deep understanding of customer needs to contribute ideas and market knowledge to fill innovation pipeline

Technical and Application management

  • Acquire customer projects for BASF Pharma solutions lab and generate increased customer demand for BASF technical services Support Lab Application projects to develop data for customer solutions in conjunction with technical service and business development
  • Address customer requirement with BASF’s materials from sampling to commercial stage.
  • Adapt technical Marketing materials to meet local promotion needs and understanding; improve effectiveness of presentation of technical information to customers
  • Provide input of business trends and customer requirements

Build Capabilities

  • Be the South India contact point for internal working team to ensure we build capabilities.
  • Create tools and best practices that can be leveraged by the other lines of business
  • Be the “subject matter expert” and provide training to the account manager
  • Ensures the exchange of information across organizational and regional boundaries

Training

  • Support training programs for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to improve training programs to elevate overall technical competencies of sales team

Project Activities:

  • Develop and contribute actively to product or industry segment communication strategies
  • Initiate and manage projects in raising brand awareness including working with universities or external associations ·
  • Adapt technical Marketing materials to meet local promotion needs and understanding; improve effectiveness of presentation of technical information to customers
  • Work on the assigned activities related to pharma solutions strategy, competitor benchmarking, business segment analysis etc.

Job Requirements

Education: Minimum Bachelor degree or Master degree in Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics)

Working Experience: Min 8 years, with at least 5 years of formulation experience in Pharmaceutical R&D, experience in project management; preferred product development experience from the Generic Pharmaceutical industry (hands-on experience to develop various Pharmaceutical dosage forms).

Technical & Professional Knowledge: Knowledge in handling technical matters and commercial transactions; knowledge and / or skills in pharmaceutical technology and operations; being familiar with pharma related quality standards (GMP) preferable; ideally, experience in key account management

Skills: Good and sound R&D knowledge in Pharmaceutical Industry, product life cycle management and high level of presentation skills
