Interview for the selection of Junior Research Fellow An Interview is scheduled to be held on 20.04.2023 (10.00 AM) at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellow (1No.) under the ISRO/NRSC funded project entitled “CO2 Assimilation off Cochin and Mandapam coast”.

Nature and duration of the Post: Purely on contract basis up to March 2024 or till the end of the project whichever is earlier
Age limit: 35 years for Men and 40 years for Women
Emoluments : Rs.31,000 + HRA
Place of duty: Kochi
Eligbility Criteria: MSc Chemical Science in related disciplines with NET qualification. Those with 3 years Bachelor’s degree must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualification or equivalent or PhD in any of above disciplines (As per ICAR memorandum F. No. Agri. Edn./6/27/2014/HRD dated 13.07.2015 and F. No. Agri. Edn./6/27/2014/HRD dated 09.
10.2015).
2. Knowledge in swimming/Swimming or diving certificate.
3. Knowledge in handling GIS softwares
(QGIS, ARCGIS)Desirable Qualification:
1. Ocean observations (in-situ, remote Sensing, ship based), laboratory analysis, processing of high-resolution ocean/atmospheric data including bio-optical, physicochemical & fisheries data, process studies, etc.
2. Data analysis software (Ferret, ODV etc.), programming languages (Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran, etc.), Satellite Data processing (SeaDAS, SNAP etc.).
3. Experience in Carbon sequestration measurements, primary production measurements, Bio-optics, water chemistry studies
4. Cruise experience

This recruitment is purely on temporary basis for a period of one year.

3. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing for the interview
4. If any of his/her near or distant relative is an employee of the ICAR-CMFRI, the candidate intending to attend the interview has to declare his/her name, designation, nature of duties, relationship in writing as detailed in ANNEXURE-II, and communicate to the undersigned by post or through e‐ mail at [email protected] on or before 13th April 2023.
5. All the candidates are required compulsorily to furnish the declaration as detailed in ANNEXURE-I and ANNEXURE-II duly signed and submit on or before 13th April 2023.
6. Decision of Director, ICAR-CMFRI will be final and binding in all respects.
7. Candidates should produce the No Objection Certificate from their present employer, if any.
8. The appointment of JRF would be on full time basis and he/she would not be permitted to take up any other assignment during the period of engagement.
9. Candidates having marks issued in the form of CGPA/OGPA should produce approved conversion table/formula at the time of reporting for interview, otherwise their candidature will not be considered
10. The services of candidate can be dispensed with even before the termination without any notice if his/ her service are no more required or his/her contribution is not up to the mark or if sufficient budget is not available.
11. The selected candidates shall not claim for any regular appointments at this institute as the above positions are purely contractual, non-regular, time bound and are co-terminus with the project.

Important Interview Questions and Answers for the above job role:
1.What is your educational background and how does it relate to this position?
Answer: I have an MSc in Chemical Science and have qualified for the National Eligibility Test (NET) in the related discipline. My educational background has equipped me with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to this project.
2. Do you have any experience in ocean observations or processing high-resolution ocean data?
Answer: Yes, I have experience in both in-situ and remote sensing ocean observations, as well as processing high-resolution ocean data. I have also conducted laboratory analysis and process studies related to ocean observations.
3. What is your experience with programming languages and data analysis software?
Answer: I have experience with Python, Matlab, and Fortran, as well as Ferret and ODV for data analysis. I am also familiar with SeaDAS and SNAP for processing satellite data.
4. Have you ever been on a research cruise before? If so, can you tell us about your experience?
Answer: Yes, I have been on a research cruise before. During my time on the cruise, I assisted in the collection and analysis of oceanographic and fisheries data. I learned a lot about the various sampling techniques and instruments used in oceanography research.
5. How do you plan to contribute to the research project on CO2 assimilation off the Cochin and Mandapam coast?
Answer: I plan to use my knowledge and skills to assist in the processing and analysis of oceanographic and atmospheric data, as well as contribute to the carbon sequestration and primary production measurements. I also have experience in handling GIS software which will be helpful in analyzing and visualizing the data collected.
