THSTI-MAHE PhD Program 2022-23 Announced – Applications Invited
THSTI is a recognized R&D institute of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal offering doctoral programs in biomedical science research. Applications are invited for the THSTI-MAHE PhD program under biomedical research. Intrested and eligible candidates may check out all the details on the same below:

Eligibility Criteria:
Indian Qualifications
- Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD or PharmD Post Baccalaureate) from an institution/university recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
- Others Master’s Degree of minimum two years’ duration or equivalent from an institution/university recognized by UGC / respective regulatory body.
Category 1:
Candidates with national fellowship
Candidates with UGC – CSIR – NET-JRF/ ICMR -JRF / DBT-JRF (BET)/JEST / INSPIRE
Fellowship/qualified in any of the UGC recognized national or state level eligibility test with a valid fellowship at the time of admission.
Category 3:
Master’s degree of two years’ duration in Life Sciences or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% or equivalent grade from an institution/university recognized by UGC / respective regulatory body. OR Should
have SRF fellowship from ICMR, CSIRCandidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to fulfill the above academic/ fellowship criteria at the time of joining the Ph.D. program.
A relaxation in marks/ grade during Master’s Degree for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled or any other category will be applicable as per the UGC notification 2016 or subsequent notification in effect at the time of interview.
Application Procedure: Candidates fulfilling the above eligibility criteria need to apply online by 20th June 2022 using the link https://thsti.in/application/jobs.php.
Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
Application fee: Non-refundable application fee of Rs. 236 for General, EWS, and OBC candidates. SC/ST/Women/differently-abled candidates are exempted from payment of application fees.
Selection Procedure:
Names of shortlisted candidates for Category 1 and Category 3 will be announced on our website.
Category 1: The candidates shortlisted in Category 1 will be called directly for the interview.
Category 3: The candidates shortlisted for Category 3 will have to appear for the written examination. Those who will qualify for the written examination will be called for the interview.
The dates for the written exam and interview will be announced later.
Final selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview and the list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI website.
Fellowship: Students, selected for Category 1 admission to the Ph.D. program and holding fellowship from any of the above agencies have to activate their own fellowship.
No. of seats: A maximum of 07 candidates may be selected for this session.(the number of positions may increase/decrease depending upon the requirement at the time of the interview).
Reservations: 27% seats for OBC (non-creamy layer), 15% seats for SC, 7.5% seats for ST, 10% seats for EWS, and 4% seats for the differently-abled persons are reserved for candidates belonging to these categories. SC/ ST/ OBC candidates are required to submit certificates in respect of their claims from authorized officers as notified by the Government for the purpose from time to time. The differently-abled (with a minimum 40% disability) candidates are required to submit a certificate from authorized Medical Doctors/ Hospitals indicating the extent of physical disability.
Academic program: Selected students will have to undergo Ph.D. coursework for 2 semesters. Those having successfully completed the Ph.D. coursework requirement will be recommended to MAHE for PhD registration.
For the award of the doctoral degree, the candidate will have to complete all the requirements as per the MAHE rules.
Fees: Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees or any other fees levied by MAHE shall be payable by the student.
Hostel: Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.
