Pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Science
and Technology, India (DST) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research
Foundation, DFG), DST and DFG are opening the possibility for joint Indo-German research
project funding in the fields of Chemistry (DFG review boards 301 to
312). Indo-German teams of researchers are invited to submit joint proposals describing integrated research projects with a duration of up to three years. DST and DFG particularly
wish to encourage early career researchers to participate in this international funding
opportunity, though the call is open to researchers of all career stages. Proposals may describe either mono-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary projects. In the case of interdisciplinary proposals, however, it is important that the central parts of the project fall within the listed fields.

These joint proposals in the fields of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics have to be based
on a close interaction between

the German and Indian research teams and should present
joint project goals and a joint work plan with balanced contributions from all project partners.

Eligibility

Faculty, scientists and academicians having permanent positions and belonging to
universities deemed universities and public funded research institutes can apply as a
“Principal Investigator” (PI or Main Applicant).

Funding

Project duration: Up to 3 years non-extendable

Grants will be offered towards project specific costs viz. consumables, up to two
scientific personnel, one project related workshop; travel and living costs etc. on the
Indian side. Overhead charges as per DST norms will be provided to Indian Institutions.
The financial support is NOT available under the scheme for the following activities:

i) already existing collaborative projects where travel and living costs are financed
by other sources;
ii) Capital equipment
iii) Office equipment viz. desktops, laptops, scanners, printers, photocopy
machines etc.

Submission
Proposals must be submitted to both organisations in parallel in accordance with the
proposal preparation requirements of each side, respectively. Proposals missing to fulfil
all formal requirements shall be rejected. The deadline for the submission of proposals in response to this call is, 20 November
2019.

In addition, a softcopy in a single pdf file (no scanned pages to be included in the file)
