Job Description:

The prospective candidate is expected to have a strong background in organic synthesis, nitrogen and sulfur based heterocyclic compounds synthesis, photophysical, electrochemical and thermal characterization of organic materials. Preference will be given to candidates having hands on experience in multi-step synthesis of functional organic materials for application in electronic devices such as solar cells and OLEDs, density functional theoretical evaluation of organic materials, handling of air/moisture sensitive metal-catalyzed reactions under inert atmosphere and routine characterization of organic materials by NMR, IR and UV­Vis spectral measurements. Candidate should be passionate to innovate and initiate research directions leading to the development of new and

high impact materials and devices. Candidate should be willing to collaborate within the group and with national and foreign institutions. Apart from research, the candidate may be entrusted with other academic responsibilities as deemed fit by the depatiment.

Qualifications

The prospective candidate should have Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry or material science or related field. Significant experience and interest in hands-on device fabrication and materials processing is desirable. In addition, computational modelling skills are desired but not required. He/she should have a minimum of three publications with impact factor of 2.0 or more. Candidates who have recently submitted their doctoral thesis are eligible to apply however; they have to furnish the proof of award of Ph.D at the time of interview. Candidates who have completed Ph.D. two years before the last date of application are not eligible to apply.

Duration and Fellowship amount:

The duration of the fellowship will be of two years. The candidate is expected to join the Depmiment as soon as offer letter has been released. The fellow will receive a consolidated fellowship as mentioned below, in addition a contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum.

First year: Rs. 50,000/- per month.
Second year: Rs. 55,000/- per month.
