Job Description:  

Job Summary :

Responsible for working with third party suppliers based in India to support the planning, tracking and execution of new product launch plans, new line extensions and the existing portfolio from the point of forecastin

g and order placement to delivery of saleable product from the supplier.

Provide support on key escalated issues and areas of development in relation to the service and performance of suppliers in relation to their supply of product. Monitor and engage with stakeholders including quality assurance, packaging, regulatory and other related Apotex departments to achieve and maintain a high level of supply performance.

Work with the supplier and the Apotex supply chain team to minimize the effect of interrupted supply as a result of supplier unplanned changes to products.

Overall, ensure stable, compliant and cost-effective third party performance.

Job Responsibilities:

Serve as an on the ground contact in India as an extension of the supply chain department in Australia for engagement with third party suppliers on escalated issues requiring resolvement and in advancing areas of development. The scope of engagement is to include the full product portfolio, both new and existing products across all related operational functions performed by the third party suppliers including planning, ordering, scheduling, manufacturing, finished good packaging, release, export and international freight.

Understand time-sensitive nature of new product launches and key return to stocks by minimizing and/or eliminating delays within the critical path. Work with functional areas to manage risks by monitoring and tracking supplier tasks and responsibilities. Ensure all plans and scheduled tasks are on target to achieve commercial readiness of product supply.
Support and improve the communication framework to keep stakeholders informed on the status of product supply, supply issues and any suggested contingencies required to avert interrupted supply. Facilitate cross-functional discussions and meetings to understand and progress solutions on issues or in the development of key areas/projects.

Contribute to the development of department analytical techniques including metrics and key reporting to identify contentious issues and anticipate problems affecting consistent product supply. Jointly develop contingency plans with the Supply Chain Director and managers and communicate recommended course of action / decisions for execution.

Recommend and participate in the implementation of systems, policies, procedures and measures of performance to facilitate continuous improvement in the supply chain in terms of both cost and service.

Liaise with management from across the business to assess customer needs and gather feedback for the purpose of improving customer service.

Execute projects and areas of development based on priorities established by the Supply Chain Director. Support the development and management of the ongoing third party performance program that monitors, reporting and set objectives for suppliers in association with the Planning and Supplier manager. This will include:
– Collaborate with key functional areas to ensure appropriate KPIs and targets are in place for areas of: Supply Service, Cost, Reliability and New Product Launch success

– Establish agreed schedules and agendas for periodical review of the KPIs with suppliers to identify gaps and collaboratively work towards improving performance

– Benchmark the performance of suppliers against industry to ensure targets are meaningful

– Develop and implement mechanisms to address performance issues. (e.g. penalties, cost sharing, payment terms, incentives, steps towards termination).

– Identify and evaluate issues, propose corrective measures and timelines for resolution

– Collaborate with Supply Chain NPL to ensure effective project management of the launch process. Ensure there is a mechanism for identification of supplier based gaps / risks and escalate as necessary to ensure successful launches occur on time

– Perform additional duties as required.

  • Qualifications:

8. Practical experience in manufacturing with different dosage forms is an asset and a robust understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies is a must
9. Good knowledge of GMPs in both domestic and international regulatory environment

  • Education:1. University degree or equivalent in Business and/or Science related field.
    2. 8-12 years experience in pharmaceutical or consumer packaged goods product launch process.
    3. 3-5 years experience in project lead and or product launch role in pharmaceutical environment.
