JOB DESCRIPTION

Functional Role: Project Research Scientist

Qualification: PhD in Polymer Science, Biomaterials

CTC: 8 LPA + HRA

Location: Kharagpur

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Research Scientist with expertise in Polymer Science and Biomaterials to lead and execute research initiatives within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments, managing research projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. Hands-on experience in polymer characterization, synthesis, and biomaterial applications is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage research projects in polymer science and biomaterials from conception to completion, ensuring timely execution.
• Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret results related to polymer synthesis, processing, and characterization.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including scientists, engineers, and external partners, to drive research objectives.
• Develop and validate experimental protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and meetings.
• Maintain accurate documentation of research activities, data analysis, and experimental findings.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in polymer science, biomaterials, and related fields, integrating new methodologies where applicable.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior researchers, interns, and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines in all research activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

• PhD in Polymer Science, Biomaterials, or a related field. (Only apply- If you are a PhD in Polymer Science, Biomaterials)
• Proven experience in polymer synthesis, biomaterials development, and polymer characterization techniques (e.g., FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM, Rheometry, GPC, etc.).
• Strong background in polymer processing, bio-based polymers, and biodegradable materials.
• Hands-on experience with polymer formulation, surface modification, and biocompatibility testing.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and research software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in publishing scientific research.
• Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced research environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in grant writing and securing research funding.
• Hands-on experience with advanced laboratory techniques in polymer research.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and ethical considerations in biomaterials research.
