Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented R&D Lab Technologist to support our research and development efforts in hydrocolloids. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working in a food science laboratory, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and assisting in the development of new hydrocolloid formulations for various food applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Research & Product Development
- Conduct lab-scale experiments and application tests to evaluate hydrocolloid functionality in different food systems (e.g., dairy, bakery, sauces, beverages).
- Assist in the development and optimization of hydrocolloid-based formulations to improve texture, stability, viscosity, and shelf life.
- Support prototype development and product trials in collaboration with R&D scientists and product managers.
Testing & Analysis
- Perform analytical tests (e.g., viscosity, gel strength, emulsification, water-holding capacity) to assess hydrocolloid properties.
- Record, analyze, and interpret experimental data, providing insights and recommendations for formulation improvements.
- Ensure all experiments follow established protocols, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, formulations, and test results in lab notebooks and digital databases.
- Prepare technical reports and summaries to support product development and decision-making processes.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and reports for internal teams and customers.
Equipment & Lab Maintenance
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as viscometers, texture analyzers, pH meters, and moisture analyzers.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and best practices.
- Maintain inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and laboratory supplies.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with R&D scientists, product managers, and production teams to support new product development and troubleshooting.
- Assist in scale-up trials, pilot plant operations, and production line testing.
- Support customer projects by preparing application samples and conducting technical demonstrations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a food industry laboratory, preferably working with hydrocolloids or food ingredients.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, hydrocolloid functionality, and analytical testing techniques.
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as viscometers, texture analyzers, and rheometers.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong documentation and communication skills for reporting and presentations.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with gums, starches, emulsifiers, and stabilizers in food applications.
- Knowledge of food processing techniques and regulatory standards (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, EFSA).
- Familiarity with sensory evaluation methods for food texture and stability.
