Applications are invited from Indian nationals for a post of “Junior Research Fellow” in the Science and Engineer Research Board sponsored project “Mapping molecular determinants of G-quadruplex folding using high-resolution NMR spectroscopy”.
Project description: This project involves biophysical characterization of DNA G-quadruplexes using solution-state NMR spectroscopy. The basic focus would be to chart the molecular determinants of biomolecular folding. The project would involve the analysis of G-quadruplex conformations using 2D NMR experiments and may involve data interpreting based on other complimentary tools (such as UV-Vis/Circular Dichroism spectroscopy, molecular dynamics simulations, machine-learning approaches). Essential Qualifications: BS-MS/M.Sc./MS (or equivalent) in Physics/Chemistry/Physical Chemistry/Biophysical Chemistry/Biochemistry or related disciplines with a good academic record (first class/division or minimum CPI of 7.0/10.0). The candidate must have qualified for a National Eligibility Test (UGC, CSIR, GATE, etc.) with a valid rank/score at the time of applying for this post. Students from national institutes (e.g., IISERs/IITs/NITs/IISc) with above 8.0/10.0 CPI are eligible without NET qualification.
Salary: Rs. 31,000 p.m. + HRA (16%)
Duration: 6 months and renewable based on satisfactory performance.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience/knowledge in NMR spectroscopy, biophysical methods, and computer skills (using Linux and programming).
- Prior experience in working in a research lab.
