Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (Kolkata) in collaboration with Jadavpur Universityhas invited applications for admission to Integrated MSc PhD Program in Physical Sciences for 2016 sessions.
A general applicant seeking admission to this course should have a minimum first division in both class X & class XII level examinations and a minimum first class (60% marks in aggregate in Physics Honours papers or equivalent) in B.Sc (Physics Honours) with Mathematics and Chemistry/Statistics/Others as subsidiaries or a first class (60% marks or equivalent in aggregate) in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Statistics/Others for universities that do not offer Honours degree at the B.Sc level.
Applicants belonging to the reserved category should have a minimum of 55% marks in both class X and class XII level exam and a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in Physics Honours papers or equivalent in B.Sc. (Physics-Honours) with Mathematics and Chemistry/Statistics/Others as subsidiaries or 55% marks or equivalent in aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Statistics/Others for Universities that do not offer Honours degree at the B.Sc. Level.
Applicant must also possess other qualifications as may be prescribed by the competent authority from time to time.
Reservation: Reservation of seats will be as per the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006.
Fellowship: Admitted students will be entitled to a stipend of Rs 12000/- p.m. (fixed) for the first two years. On successful completion of the M.Sc Course Junior Research Fellowship will be awarded as per the prevailing norms.
It may not be possible to provide accommodation for all selected applicants.
Short-listed applicants will be required to appear for a written test to be held in Kolkata.
Applicants further shortlisted on the basis of written test will be called for an interview, out of which maximum ten (10) applicants will be selected for admission. List of successful applicants will be displayed on the website of the institute. Outstation applicants called for interview will be reimbursed with Sleeper Class railway fare by the shortest route provided they are selected and finally join the course.
Duly filled in applications (to be downloaded from IACS website http://iacs.res.in) in prescribed format along with a self-addressed envelope (no need to send mark sheets and certificates with your application) must reach the Coordinator, Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. Program in Physical Sciences, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur, Kolkata-700032 not later than 05.00 PM of July 01st 2016.
The envelope containing the application should be marked as “Integrated Ph.D. Program in Physical Sciences, IACS-2016”. Applications received after due date will not be accepted. Interim queries will not be entertained.
Exam Fees: Rs.250/- for reserved applicants (SC/ST/OBC); Rs.500/- for all other applicants.

Entrance test/Interviews will be held on mid-July, 2016
