Job Summary:
The role of an R&D Engineer specializing in Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) involves identifyin
g, analyzing, and resolving failure mechanisms in electrochemical systems, including energy storage, hydrogen production, and fuel cells. This position focuses on enhancing the performance, reliability, and lifespan of electrochemical devices through research, testing, and collaboration.Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct failure mode analysis to identify and document failure mechanisms in electrochemical systems such as alkaline water electrolysers (AWE).
- Analyze data to detect failure patterns and trends.
- Design and perform experiments simulating extreme conditions (temperature, pressure, current, voltage).
- Collaborate with materials scientists to address material-related failures and recommend solutions.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations on findings and improvements.
- Maintain thorough records of experiments and methodologies.
- Troubleshoot issues related to coating processes and materials.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement failure prevention strategies.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
Experience: Background in R&D, failure analysis, or reliability engineering for electrochemical systems (e.g., batteries, fuel cells, electrolysers).
Skills:
- Proficiency in electrochemical testing and failure analysis tools.
- Deep understanding of electrochemical processes and materials science.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on lab experience.
- Familiarity with tools like potentiostats, EIS, Elemental composition analysis (ICP-MS), and SEM imaging.
