The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, has announced its PhD Admission 2025–26 (Winter Session) for multiple disciplines, including Biological, Chemical, Computer, Earth & Planetary, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences. PhD Program Admission Notification: Winter Session 2025–26
The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for admission to the PhD Programme for the 2025–26 Winter Session, commencing in January 2026.
The admissions are open in the following Schools of NISER: School of Chemical Sciences (SCS)
Eligibility Criteria
Chemical Sciences
- Minimum 55% in a Master’s in Chemistry or related fields.
- Applicants with a Master’s in basic sciences or M.Tech in applied chemistry/computer science are eligible.
- Candidates with a 4-year degree in Chemistry (with a minimum grade of 75%) may apply.
National-Level Exam Qualification
Applicants must have qualified for at least one of the following national-level examinations, valid for 2025–26:
Chemical Sciences: CSIR-UGC-NET, GATE
Note: Students with only an INSPIRE Doctoral Fellowship are not eligible unless they qualify through the above exams.
Fellowship Details
- ₹37,000 per month as Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for the first two years.
- ₹42,000 per month as Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) for up to three additional years, subject to academic performance.
- Students with external fellowships from CSIR, UGC, or other agencies will draw fellowship as per agency norms.

Selection Procedure
- Shortlisting based on eligibility and additional criteria set by each school.
- Selection through interview and/or written test.
- Reimbursement of travel fare (sleeper class) for shortlisted candidates attending the selection process.
