Job Purpose
The Computational Chemist role in Bangalore supports drug discovery and material science projects using computational modeling, cheminformatics, QSAR/QSPR modeling, and data science approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design and optimization of molecules through structure- and ligand-based approaches.
- Apply QSAR/QSPR modeling to predict molecular properties and guide compound selection.
- Use cheminformatics methods to interpret chemical and biological datasets.
- Employ data science and machine learning techniques for computational chemistry insights.
- Contribute to computational workflow development and team design sessions.
- Prepare scientific reports in the required formats.
Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related fields with computational expertise in drug discovery.
Technical/Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of computational chemistry methods in drug discovery and materials science.
- Hands-on experience with tools: Schrodinger (Maestro, Bioluminate, Materials Science), MOE, ICM, Cresset, KNIME, Pipeline Pilot.
- Expertise in QSAR/QSPR modeling, cheminformatics, and data science.
- Proficiency in molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, docking, pharmacophore modeling, and homology modeling.
- Familiarity with high-performance computing (Linux clusters, GPU systems).
- Knowledge of Python programming is an added advantage.
Experience Required for the Computational Chemist Position:
1–2 years in computational modeling, medicinal chemistry, or drug discovery with a strong interest in applying innovative methods in research.
