Job Description:
NCBS invites applications for the position of Facility Assistant (ACRC) on a contract basis. The role involves supporting the Animal Care Research Centre (ACRC) by ensuring the smooth operation of animal facilities, assisting veterinarians, and maintaining research standards. Candidates should hold a BE, B.Tech, M.Pharm, or Master’s degree in biological sciences with a strong interest in laboratory animal facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise animal husbandry and welfare activities of support staff and students.
- Assist veterinarians in training students, staff, and researchers in humane animal handling and facility use.
- Provide training and assistance in surgical procedures, anesthesia, analgesia, breeding, colony maintenance, genotyping, and live animal shipments.
- Support veterinarians in the import/export processes of laboratory animals and health monitoring programs.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping in accordance with CCSEA guidelines.
- Be available to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications:
- BE / B.Tech / M.Pharm / Master’s degree in biological sciences.
- Strong interest in working with laboratory animal facilities.
- Prior experience in animal care or related research support is desirable.
- Ability to work in shifts and under flexible schedules.
- Age limit: 45 years (as of 01.07.2025).
