Pepsico is a leading global food and beverage company with a strong commitment to quality and safety. The R&D department is seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Scientist (SQA) to join their team. This role is essential for supporting the AMESA (Africa, Middle East, South Asia) Supplier Quality Assurance team in ensuring that all ingredients meet stringent quality and safety standards.

Job Description

This role supports the AMESA Supplier Quality Assurance team. The primary responsibilities include conducting annual re-approvals for low-risk suppliers, managing and updating various databases, and supporting ancillary SQA programs. The role is pivotal in ensuring data governance and compliance, and it will require strong communication and

organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the SQA Trackwise database to identify and manage supplier site re-approvals.
  • Contact suppliers via email and Zoom calls to request the necessary documentation and certifications for re-approval, such as GFSI/ISO 9001 certifications, audit reports, and HACCP plans.
  • Review all documents received from suppliers, create audit records in the Trackwise database, and verify materials.
  • Maintain and update progress metrics monthly to track the status of reapprovals.
  • Ensure data governance by regularly updating ingredient and supplier information in the Global Trackwise Database and other portals.
  • Support the Supplier Performance Management agenda by preparing presentations on supplier non-conformances.
  • Assist with GFSI audits for manufacturing sites in the Europe sector.
  • Support ancillary SQA programs, including food fraud questionnaires, contaminants data requests, and Pathogen Sensitive Ingredient Program (PSIP) questionnaires.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline (e.g., Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a technical role within Regulatory, QA/QC, or other Food-related FMCG.
  • Certifications: Lead Auditor training is required and must be completed either before or shortly after joining the team.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to interpret technical information and find workable solutions.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to learn new computer applications and databases quickly.
    • Basic understanding of Food Safety, Microbiology, and Regulatory Affairs.
    • Strong collaborative and communication skills (oral and written).
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
    • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to projects.
    • Fluent in English.
