Job Responsibilities
- Handle prescriptions for both semi-controlled and uncontrolled drugs in the hospital.
- Maintain accurate records for semi-controlled drugs.
- Supervise drug dispensing through Assistant Pharmacists.
- Manage pharmacy stock and ensure proper entry for stock purchases.
- Cross-verify drug expiry dates weekly.
- Handle narcotics: receiving, issuing indents, updating registers, and maintaining emergency issue books.
- Double-check LASA/High-Risk medications during dispensing.
- Receive goods from vendors, forward invoices to the purchase department, and organize stock in racks.
- Manage ward indent issues and near-expiry checks.
- Coordinate with departments to receive near-expiry drugs and forward invoices to the finance department.
- Conduct regular stock checks to prevent shortages.
- Consult with doctors for alternative medications when items are unavailable.
- Counsel patients regarding correct dosage and medication use.
- Ensure continuous monitoring of drugs to reduce stock-outs.
