The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, invites applications for the Winter Research Internship Scheme (WRIS) 2025 for undergraduate (Category I) and postgraduate (Category II) students, as well as the Long-Term Research Internship Scheme (Category III) for B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, and MBA students.
Candidates must submit their completed application form, along with the necessary documents and a receipt for the application fee (clearly showing the UTR No., date, and time of payment), in a single PDF file to srip@iitism.ac.in. The last date is 15th November 2025 for Category-I and II, and 30th November 2025 for Category-III.
Category-I: B.Tech Winter Research Internship Scheme 2025
Types of Funding:
A. Institute funded (3 per department)
B. Project funded (as available)
C. Self-funded (as per department requirement)
Application Timeline: 1st October 2025 to 15th November 2025
Duration: 1–2 months
Application Fee: ₹500 (online payment only; demand draft not acceptable)
Stipend: ₹5,000 per month for institute-funded interns.
Assessment: End-term presentation and review committee evaluation for certification.
Accommodation: Based on availability.
Category-II: PG Winter Research Internship Scheme 2025
Funding Types:
A. Institute funded (3 per department)
B. Project funded (as available)
C. Self-funded (as required by department)
Timeline: 1st October 2025 to 15th November 2025
Duration: 1–2 months
Fee: ₹500
Stipend: ₹5,000 per month for institute-funded interns.
Assessment: End-term presentation, review, and certification through the Dean (R&D).
Accommodation: Subject to availability.
Category-III: Long Term Research Internship Opportunity (B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc/MBA)
Funding Types: Project-funded or Self-funded (maximum five interns per department)
Timeline: 1st October 2025 to 30th November 2025
Duration: 6–12 months
Fee: ₹500 (plus tuition fee per semester upon joining)
- Assessment: Mid-term and end-term presentations reviewed by the committee.
- NOC: Required from the parent institution.
- Accommodation: Based on availability.
General Terms and Selection Criteria:
Applications will be reviewed by the Research Internship Scheme (RIS) Committee, comprising departmental faculty. Selection is based on CGPA, publications, awards, research proposals, and letters of recommendation.
Minimum CGPA Requirements:
- 7.5 for IITs/IISc/IIMs/NITs/IISERs/NISERs/IIEST/CUs/GFTIs
- 8.0 for other institutes
Students with backlogs or disciplinary actions are not eligible.
Non-IIT (ISM) interns receive temporary institute IDs to access library, sports, and research facilities. Hostel facilities may be provided on a paid basis, depending on availability. Interested candidates apply for this exclusive Internship Opportunity.
Interns are entitled to free OPD medical services at the Institute Health Centre.
