Assistant Manager – Quality
Position: AM – Quality Personal Care, Home Care, Baby Care
Location: Bangalore
Job Summary:
The Lead QHSE will oversee and manage the quality assurance processes for all private label nonfood products, ensuring that all products meet the required quality and safety standards from raw material receipt to finished goods dispatch. This role includes collaborating with suppliers, internal teams, and other stakeholders to maintain and improve product quality and compliance.
The Lead QHSE will also manage quality assurance processes related to supplier audits and the onboarding of new suppliers for private label nonfood products (home care, cosmetics, paper & disposables, party needs, puja articles, general merchandise, etc.). This involves ensuring that all suppliers meet the company’s quality standards and regulatory requirements, facilitating supplier development, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive audits of potential and existing nonfood and new suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and follow up on corrective actions to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Ensure onboarding of new suppliers with adherence to quality and regulatory criteria.
- Evaluate supplier facilities, processes, and systems to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide training and support to new suppliers to help them understand and comply with company standards.
- Responsible for:
- Quality & regulatory compliance of all private label nonfood products.
- Handling end-to-end quality operations in the retail supply chain.
- Lead and mentor a team of quality assurance professionals in their zone.
- Travel to multiple 3rd-party supplier locations within and outside the city for quality inspections and issue resolution.
- Frame specifications and SOPs for FMCG NonFood Products.
- Lead FMCG NonFoods projects from development to implementation.
- Maintain strong technical knowledge of Drug & Cosmetic, Ayush license, LM, PCB, and labeling guidelines.
- Develop and implement nonfood regulatory and quality strategic plans for private label brands in alignment with corporate strategic plans.
- Maintain documentation of RM, PM & Finished Goods as per quality and safety requirements.
- Handle customer concerns and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Identify areas of improvement in food safety, quality, and product consistency to positively impact quality and business-driven metrics.
- Develop supplier QA teams through continuous training, knowledge sharing, and follow-up.
- Interact daily with 3rd-party suppliers and corporate QA teams on quality and safety projects.
- Provide guidance to the supplier quality team as required.
Key Skills:
- Ability to develop and lead projects individually.
- Strong experience in managing stakeholders and understanding the strategic sourcing process.
- Ability to critically evaluate data from various sources to identify root causes and lead teams toward resolution.
- Proven experience in nonfood categories like home care, cosmetics, paper & disposables, party needs, puja articles, general merchandise, etc.
- Process-oriented with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively address varied audiences.
- Self-motivated and able to perform the role with minimal supervision.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrates a positive “can-do” attitude with excellent teamwork and information-sharing skills.
- A self-starter capable of designing and implementing services/processes.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple functional areas.
Qualifications:
- B.Sc/B.Pharm/M.Pharm in Cosmetology, M.Sc in Chemistry, M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, or any UG/PG related to NonFood categories.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within the nonfood manufacturing industry, preferably with private label products.
- ISO 22000 / FSSC Internal Auditor certification is an added advantage.
- Proficient in data analysis and MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
