Purpose of the Role

The Electrode Engineer (Coating / Calendering Engineer) is responsible for running

equipment used to transform prepared slurry into uniform electrode rolls. This includes Coating machines, Calendering machines, Slitting machines, and essential inspection tools. The role emphasizes stable operation, consistency, safety, and attention to detail. Experience in dry-room handling is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibility Areas

Operating Production Equipment

  • Operate coater and dryer machines to ensure uniform coating and smooth material transfer
  • Operate calendar machines to achieve the required compactness and surface finish
  • Handle slitters and width-control systems to maintain dimensional accuracy
  • Set and adjust machine parameters such as speed, temperature, pressure, and gap as per process requirements
  • Monitor machine performance through visual indicators, sensors, and system feedback to ensure stable operations

Material Preparation & Handling

  • Prepare base foils, rolls, and slurry feed materials as per defined specifications
  • Ensure proper alignment and tension control during roll loading and changeovers
  • Handle semi-processed materials carefully to prevent contamination, wrinkles, or mechanical damage

Knowledge Generic

Knowledge, Skills & Education

  • Basic understanding of coating, drying, calendering, and slitting processes
  • Familiarity with equipment such as a coater, dryer, calender, and slitting machines
  • Knowledge of process parameters, including coating thickness, temperature, pressure, line speed, and tension control
  • Understanding of roll-to-roll processing and web handling techniques
  • Awareness of material properties such as foils, films, and coated substrates
  • Basic knowledge of quality checks, including surface finish, uniformity, and dimensional accuracy
  • Understanding of SOPs, safety standards, and 5S practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret process sheets, work instructions, and production plans
  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Production, or related discipline
  • Certification in machine operation, manufacturing processes, or industrial safety is an added advantage.
