Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Engineering Intern to join the CSBG engineering team at Lam Research in Bangalore for a 6-month internship under Lam Research Careers. This Chemical Engineering Intern / Engineering Intern role focuses on applying physics-based reasoning, analytical modelling, and data analysis to understand process behaviour in advanced plasma etch and deposition systems.
The intern will work closely with experienced engineers and scientists to analyse experimental data, develop simplified models of process behaviour, and generate insights that improve process understanding and platform robustness. This opportunity is ideal for candidates pursuing MSc Chemistry Internship or Chemical Engineering Intern roles, looking to build a strong foundation in semiconductor technologies.

Responsibilities
During the internship, you will contribute to engineering challenges such as:
- Plasma processing of advanced and emerging material systems
- Time-dependent or cyclic plasma processes with evolving surface interactions
- Chamber–surface conditioning effects and process stability
- Transport and reaction balance in complex geometries
- Film property sensitivity and process–performance coupling
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse experimental datasets to identify key drivers of process performance and variability
- Support the development of simplified physics-based or analytical models describing plasma–surface interactions and process behaviour
- Perform structured data analysis to identify sensitivities and parameter interactions
- Assist in correlating model predictions with experimental observations
- Support hypothesis development and validation through targeted data interpretation
- Participate in parametric or sensitivity studies to understand process trade-offs
- Document modelling assumptions, analysis methodology, and key insights
- Present technical findings and collaborate with engineering teams during technical reviews
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree (MS / MTech) in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Science
- Applied Physics
- Chemistry
- or a related discipline with relevance to the semiconductor equipment industry
Strong academic foundation in one or more of the following:
- Plasma physics
- Transport phenomena
- Surface kinetics or reaction engineering
- Fluid mechanics or electromagnetics
Experience with computational or analytical tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar numerical analysis platforms
