Hindustan Zinc, Silox India Boost Low-Carbon Manufacturing

Hindustan Zinc and Silox India partner to advance low-carbon manufacturing with EcoZen

The surreal partnership of the two biggest standalone companies: Hindustan Zinc Limited, which is said to be the world’s largest producer of zinc, and is integrated, and the other one is Silox India, which is one of the companies that is leading speciality chemicals manufacturing in India. Further, this partnership is strengthened to support the manufacturing low low-carbon emission substances in India. Here comes the brand EcoZen, which is the amalgamation of Silox India, & Hindustan Zinc’s low-carbon brand as a collaborative idea for the manufacturing functions.

Globally, consumers expect more eco-friendly emissions; hence, the uptake of EcoZen as a concept will meet the target to be achieved, which is the reduction of carbon emissions without compromising the quality of products. Both upstream and downstream categories are met by this collaboration, or partnership of both the brands, and in the end, working all together as a process will minimal carbon emission across various industries.

The brand that is renowned and known to be the first company all over Asia that produces zinc with low carbon emission, completely by using energy that are renewable energy and environmentally friendly energy

is EcoZen. A Huge decrease of around 75% in carbon emissions compared to all other globally established industries on average was found. For approximate data, it has a carbon footprint of less than 1 tonne of carbon dioxide per tonne of zinc. EcoZen does not really limit itself here; it gives a proper transparency regarding any accurate measurements, reports, etc, by providing verifications from third parties, and even open traces for tracks.

Downstream Applications is one of the major targets that is delivered by EcoZen. A sharp decrease in 400 kg of carbon dioxide per kg of steel is covered by certain processes, like galvanization, through the usage of EcoZen as a tool, which is largely different from the conventional ones. Hence, it meets the target of less carbon emission.

Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, plays a vital role in India’s metals ecosystem, supplying zinc and associated materials to sectors such as infrastructure, automotive, power, chemicals, and renewable energy. As part of its sustainability strategy, the company has prioritised emission reductions not only within its own operations but also across customer value chains.

EcoZen has emerged as a key pillar of this strategy, supporting customers in achieving their Scope 3 emission reduction targets. Hindustan Zinc is also a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), reflecting its alignment with global best practices in responsible mining, climate action, and transparent value chains.

Silox India is one of Hindustan Zinc’s key customers in the chemical applications segment. The company specialises in inorganic chemistry and the manufacture of non-ferrous metal derivatives, supplying application-specific solutions across a wide range of industrial sectors. The integration of EcoZen supports Silox India’s ESG objectives by reducing the carbon footprint of its zinc-based offerings and strengthening the sustainability of its supply chain.

Commenting on the partnership, Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director of Hindustan Zinc, said that decarbonisation extends beyond the company’s own operations to how its products are used across industries, adding that EcoZen represents a major step toward cleaner manufacturing.

Managing Director of Silox India, Prakash Raman, this brand collaboration provides the company with a roadmap that can facilitate long-term sustainability and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions without compromising performance quality.

A combination of durable zinc with a long, stable shelf life, along with as limited a possible usage of carbon, leaving less carbon usage, with a backup assessment continuously by third parties that verify the life cycles, declaration of environmentally friendly products, and finally, these are recognised by renowned certifications by ISO or REACH Certifications is done by EcoZen as a whole.
