- Under general supervision, demonstrates operational familiarity with the chemical hygiene plan and current HSE laboratory safety standards.
- Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties and assists lower-level technicians in these areas.
- Applies theories, principles, and practices to the research and development of new and improved products, processes, and procedures.
- Performs routine research and experimentation at the direction of the Scientific Leader, the Scientific Advisor, and the Team Leaders. Document progress in laboratory notebooks, reports, procedures, and designs.
- Communicates occasionally with technical client personnel. Responds as directed by Scientific Leader, Scientific Advisor, and Team Leaders to customers’ needs.
- Participates in professional societies. Job tasks, correctly performed, indirectly impact cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations. Consequences of error are easily measured and can be confined.
- Skills are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering or a similar discipline, and 4 years of related experience. Completion of a master’s or PhD in Science or Engineering is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand requirements and define project scope effectively.
- Design and discuss experimental plans, demonstrating strong knowledge of core principles, techniques, and results.
- Translate theoretical concepts into practical applications and clearly explain methodologies and implications.
- Communicate the rationale behind experimental choices and findings in a concise, professional manner.
- Stay updated with technical advancements, troubleshoot customer queries, and provide courteous, accurate, and timely solutions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of surface science, adsorption phenomena, and characterization techniques.
- Proficient in analyzing structure–property relationships.
- Experience in oilfield scale inhibition and testing (preferred).
- Familiarity with scale prediction and squeeze modeling software (preferred).
- Proven track record in technical services and/or commercialization of new chemical products.
- Hands-on experience with High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) equipment.

Qualifications
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry or a related field (preferred)
- M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry or a related field.
Experience:
- Ph.D. holders: Minimum 1 year of experience in technical services and/or new product development
- M.Sc. holders: Minimum 3 years of experience in technical services and/or new product development
