Job Purpose: To lead and supervise packing operations during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to production targets, cGMP, safety, and documentation standards. Acts as the first line of escalation for operational issues and ensures smooth coordination between teams and shifts.

Shift Execution & Supervision

  • Lead shift-wise packing operations to meet daily production targets.
  • Allocate manpower and resources efficiently across lines.
  • Monitor machine performance and minimize micro-stoppages.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to cGMP, SOPs, and safety norms.
  • Review and verify online documentation (BPR, logbooks, etc.).
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries in SAP, CIPDox.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the point of contact for QA, Engineering, and Stores during the shift.
  • Escalate deviations, breakdowns, or material shortages to the Section Head.
  • Ensure smooth handover between shifts.

Training & Development

  • Train officers and contract staff on equipment handling, safety, and documentation.
  • Conduct on-the-job coaching to reduce errors and improve productivity.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process simplification opportunities.
  • Participate in SMED, Kaizen, and Jaagruti initiatives.
  • Suggest improvements in packing material usage and machine efficiency.

Major Challenges

  • Meeting shift targets due to the unavailability of adequate resources. Overcome by efficient workload distribution.
  • Maintaining cGMP requirements during system downtime. Overcome by coordinating with engineering and technical support teams.

Key Interactions

  • QA/QC – Batch release, documentation.
  • Engineering – breakdowns, preventive maintenance.
  • Stores – material availability.
  • Safety – incident reporting, PPE compliance.
  • Maintenance contractors – urgent repairs.
  • PM suppliers – through the Section Head.

  • Shift Volume Responsibility: ~60–70 mn units.
  • Packing Lines Supervised: 5–7.

  • Up-gradation in the facility and documents to the Section Head – Packing.
  • Modification in equipment to the Section Head – Packing.
  • Deviation and implementation of CAPAs, Section Head – Packing.

Education Qualification: B. Pharm. / B. Sc. (Chemistry)

Relevant Work Experience: 3–6 years in packing operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong understanding of cGMP, QMS, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in SAP, CIPDox, and packing line equipment.
  • Leadership and team coordination.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
