DRDO Recruitment-The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its premier lab Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) in Chandigarh, has announced Paid Internships for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students pursuing Engineering and Science degrees. This six-month internship, starting in January 2026, offers an exceptional opportunity for meritorious students to gain hands-on research experience in defence technologies. Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) is one of the premier laboratories of the Defence R&D Organization (DRDO). TBRL invites applications from students (Indian citizens) with excellent academic records for the Paid Internship for a period of six months.

Applications are invited from eligible students pursuing under-graduation/post-graduation in engineering/science in the prescribed format, latest by 17 November 2025, for the following disciplines:

For Under-Graduate Internship (Students pursuing B.Tech.): Internship must be a part of their degree courses.

For Post-Graduate Internship: (Students in the 2nd year M.Sc): Internship must be a part of their degree courses.

Note: A total of 41 vacancies of internships in both categories (a) & (b).

Minimum Education Qualifications: Pursuing Graduate/Post Graduate in Engineering and Science, full-time course in the respective discipline from a recognized Indian University/Institute.

Duration of Internship: The duration of internship/project work will be for a period of 06 months. The student will require to submit a progress report after 3 months and project report after 6 months/completion of the training. After successful completion of the project and submission of report, TBRL will issue a certificate to student.

Selection Procedure:

• TBRL/DRDO shall offer Paid internship to students with good academic records with 75% & above marks (or ≥ 7.5 CGPA) from AICTE/UGC approved College/Universities.
• Principal/HOD/TPO of institution should send a request letter for Paid Internship for their highly deserving meritorious students only.
• Age Limit:- Below 28 Years.
• Eligible students will be selected based on CGPA of all previous semesters/Percentage of marks of all previous semesters/years and Online/ telephonic interview/interaction as required, subject to satisfactory verification of the documents.
• Selected students will only be notified about the joining procedures through email to the email ID of the student mentioned in the application form.
• Selection will be based entirely on merit basis/suitability of candidates for the project/assignment etc. after going through the applications and shortlist the candidates (as per the vacancies indicated above).

Procedure for Submission of Application: Applications are to be sent by Speed Post, On top of the envelope student should clearly mention “Application for Paid Internship: Starting January 2026” further mentioning the “Branch Code ……” for ease in segregation of applications addressed to The Director, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Defence R&D Organization, Sector – 30, Chandigarh 160030 with Kind Attention: To HRD Division.

Boarding/Lodging: No boarding or lodging expenses are admissible.

Payment of Stipend:

• Stipend for internship for a period of 06 months is applicable only when the student is present at the Lab for a minimum of 15 working days per month.
• Payment will be made in two installments, first installment will be paid after 03 months of Internship and the second installment will be paid after completion of 06 months of internship.
• Stipend will be paid directly to the bank account of the student.

Award of Certificate:

• Certificate of completion will be awarded to the student, upon successful completion of the Internship which includes clearing of evaluation of project work, submission of project report, and completion of other formalities.
• If the student is unable to complete the internship or leaves in between, then Certificate of Completion will not be issued to such students and No payment will be made.

Other Terms & Conditions:

• Interns will strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Lab during the internship period. Internship will be terminated, if the students are found involved in any indisciplinary activities.
• TBRL/DRDO shall have no obligation to offer employment to such interns/project students nor an intern can claim any right for employment on the grounds of completion of the Internship.
• The management reserves the right to change the vacancy positions or selection criteria at any point during the selection process of the aforesaid internship scheme without assigning any reason whatsoever.
• Selected candidates shall be required to report at TBRL, Ramgarh Range, District: Panchkula, Haryana.
• Verification of credentials shall be done, and in case of any deviation from or non-conformity with the desired qualification/marks/facts, his/her candidature shall be summarily rejected.
• Working hours will be as per the lab/estt time. No leave except sick leave, with the production of valid prescription will be given to the student.
• An undertaking to maintain secrecy, follow all IT rules/regulations, non-publication of data/ information related to any subject of TBRL/DRDO, that student is not being paid for any other internship etc. will have to be given by selected students at the time of joining.
• In case of any dispute, the decision of TBRL/DRDO Management will be final.

Selected students will have to submit the following documents at the time of joining:

• TPO letter will be required from the selected student for six-month training duration from the intimated date of start of training.
• Bonafide and Character Certificate from the College.
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from college authorities (in original) on college letterhead mentioning that the student will be relieved for internship at TBRL for six months training duration.
• Police verification from Hometown/place of residence to be submitted at the time of joining (if selected).
• Undertaking for adherence to Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923.
• Selected students need to provide the bank details for the transfer of the stipend.
• At the time of joining, student is required to bring the Aadhar Card (in Original) along with college ID card for verification. They should also submit 03 nos. passport size photograph at the time of joining.
• All B.Tech/M.Sc previous semesters’ mark sheets in original for verification, or a letter from the college certifying that the Original certificates are held with them.
• Original documents will be returned immediately after verification.
