Job Description
The Quenching Station Specialist will oversee the safe quenching of materials, hazardous waste management, and compliance with safety standards. This role ensures safe disposal of expired and hazardous chemicals, maintenance of safety systems, and implementation of emergency preparedness protocols. Candidates will play a key role in improving environmental management systems, ensuring workplace safety, and contributing to Syngene’s excellence in chemical handling and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow procedures and policies for safe quenching operations.
- Execute timely quenching of materials as per SOP classifications.
- Ensure safe handling, treatment, storage, and disposal of hazardous and expired chemicals.
- Maintain and monitor safety equipment, fire hydrants, detectors, and safety gadgets.
- Drive awareness campaigns, safety competitions, and EHS culture development.
- Support incident investigation and cross-functional safety initiatives.
- Conduct emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills.
- Provide regular reports on quenching station activities and ensure compliance with SOPs.
- Optimize hazardous waste reduction and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the quenching station.
Qualifications
- Education: B.Sc / M.Sc in Organic Chemistry.
- Experience: 0–2 years in chemical handling, lab, or bulk scale reactions.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of chemical handling, collaborative mindset, scientific problem-solving, and good communication skills.
- Capabilities: Hands-on expertise in safe operations, preventive maintenance, and environmental health and safety protocols.
