Job Description
As a Product Development Manager (Laundry Premium Powders) in the GDC Powders team at Unilever’s Mumbai HURC, you will be responsible for leading powder design and managing end-to-end product portfolios for key global markets. You will drive innovation, ensure seamless technology transfers, and develop superior, sustainable, and affordable products that align with Unilever’s Bright Future Strategy. This role requires collaboration with various cross-functional teams, including procurement, supply chain, finance, marketing, and local R&D.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver all technical aspects of projects in partnership with technology and country teams.
- Lead R&D functions (packaging, CTI, fragrance, processing) to ensure on-time delivery of assigned projects.
- Drive product development, scale-up, and robust technology transfer to factories.
- Act as the single point of contact for assigned markets, supporting ongoing quality, supply, and on-ground challenges.
- Provide formulation inputs for claims development and demo toolkits.
- Ensure local market insights and legislative requirements are incorporated in global innovations.
- Drive material resilience, simplification, and cost-saving initiatives for the assigned market.
- Support local teams in ensuring 100% compliance with delivered quality.
- Track global and local competitors with CPA team support and share actionable insights for informed business decisions.
- Build and develop a high-performing formulation team by coaching, mentoring, and motivating team members.
- Set ambitious targets and foster collaboration in challenging circumstances.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in Chemistry or B.Sc.Tech in Chemical Engineering (mandatory).
- Prior experience in Home Care (preferred).
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance short-term and long-term priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in a matrix system.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and handle line management responsibilities.
