Job Description
The Project Engineer will be part of Bayer’s project department, supporting regular process functions, troubleshooting, and process improvements. This role involves managing small-scale projects as a project manager and helping the plants achieve engineering excellence.
Position Purpose:
- Contribute as a process engineer for new plant designs, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Manage small-scale projects independently, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process engineering concepts for new plants or improving existing ones.
- Lead chemical manufacturing plant projects from concept to commissioning.
- Evaluate environmental and energy infrastructure requirements.
- Perform and validate engineering calculations.
- Prepare and review deliverables, including Material Balance, Energy Balance, PFD, P&ID, BEP, Data Sheet, and Cause & Effect Matrix.
- Participate in HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
- Support plant optimization and troubleshooting through process analysis.
- Draft engineering proposals with cost, benefits, and payback analysis.
- Develop project execution plans when assigned as Project Manager.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to ensure project success.
- Coordinate with external vendors and technology suppliers to finalize the project scope.
Qualifications
- Full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 2–6 years of process engineering experience, preferably in Greenfield/Brownfield projects.
- Strong knowledge of plant design, HAZOP studies, risk mitigation, and risk ratings.
- Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, PipeNet, and other process engineering tools.
- Experience in developing commissioning plans and managing commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in the English language.
