Job Details
Job Post: Junior Research Fellow
Basic Eligibility Criteria:
a) M.Sc/M.Phil/M.Tech or equivalent degree, in either Marine Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a closely related subject, with minimum 60% marks, or minimum CGPA of 7.5.
b) Candidates must have qualified in one of the following examinations: GATE, UGC/CSIR NET-LS, INSPIRE, or other equivalent examination.

Study of coastal carbon dynamics of Sundarbans estuaryFunding agency: National Remote Sensing Agency, ISRO
Principal Investigator: Dr. Gopala Krishna Darbha, Associate Professor, Dept. of Earth Sciences
Remuneration: A maximum amount of Rs 37,700 + HRA
Tenure: The appointment will be for a period of 1 year and is tenable only for the duration of the project.
Start date of the project: 1st September 2025
Additional experience: Exposure to research at the Master’s level or higher / work experience in an academic institution.

Project and job description:
Collection of water and sediment samples from the Sundarbans Mangrove and the Hooghly estuary and their physicochemical analysis. Investigate the factors impacting CO₂ sequestration in the Sundarbans Mangrove using field-based data and remote sensing tools.
Conditions:
No TA /DA will be provided to the candidate for the interview. The decision of the selection committee will be final. The selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of the tenure if performance to date is not deemed satisfactory.
